Asking me a question like if I would love to spend a week in space or a week in an exploration vessel diving the depths of the sea is probably one of the very few times I would ever give thought to anything pertaining to stories regarding the deep sea.
As much as I find swimming fascinating, deep sea exploration is something I do not think I would ever like to do. I am not one to be interested in seeing fish and other sea creatures of different forms and sizes. Heck, I am very much afraid of seeing sharks, let alone being around one. Whales scare me too. The size of a whale is what particularly scares me. Something that big, and capable of swallowing me whole, is not what I want to be around.

So yeah, I definitely would rather spend the week in space. This is not because I do not fancy deep sea diving, but rather because I actually love space and its related topics.
Growing up as a kid, I used to love encyclopedias. You know all those books that always had very interesting information about a vast variety of topics? Yeah, I used to love being with them. I would always visit our school library just to absorb some more information about the universe. And the most interesting and intriguing topic of them all has always been "Space".
I don’t think it is only me that has had different ambitions and aspirations as a kid. I went from pilot to scientist (I was fascinated by chemical mixtures that could create new stuff) to being an engineer that could invent anything. But the one thing that I really wanted to be, deep within my heart, was an astronaut.

I wanted to be an astronaut for the main reason of being able to explore space and discover extraterrestrial life. I believed in aliens; I still do. I wanted to be able to go on space missions to discover new planets, new moons, get a closer look at the sun, and reach a star. I wanted to see the earth with my own eyes and adore it as the marvelous beauty of the universe. I wanted to see Pluto, the coldest planet in our solar system.
I knew so much about space as a kid that I could have even written a book about it. A book that would entail my thoughts and hypotheses about space. And also, how a little boy named Joe would love to explore the beautiful space that we all co-exist in.
The only reason I gave up on this dream was that there is nothing that comes close to NASA where I am from. And having such an exuberant dream and chasing after it only looked futile as I grew older. I was taught to be realistic and go after the possible. If only I had known then that the possibilities now were once impossible. I would probably be on my way to working with NASA.
There are so many things to love about Space:
Gravity
Do you ever wonder what it would feel like to have your entire being not bound by the laws of gravity? I mean, we literally could float. How can I not find that fascinating? I want to try sleeping and floating; that would be so crazy.
Another thing I would love to try is to spill coffee and not have gravity affect it. I cannot even begin to imagine what it would look like. Another thing is to spread sushi all around and only use my mouth to try and grab it to eat. I know these are absurd ideas, but com'on, we do not get to do these on earth. Why not try it when you have the chance?
Spacesuits
Have you ever taken a selfie in a spacesuit before? "No" is most likely your answer. Those suits always look so cool to me. I want to know how it would be to actually wear one and use the comms (communication systems) too.
"Voyager-blue to Explorer-9, we are in position to extract Vibranium from Jupiter's moon. Shall we proceed?" That is something I would like to say while wearing a spacesuit in space.
The Blue Sunset on Mars
Our sunset on earth is not the same way it looks on Mars, according to NASA. The fine dust on Mars make the blue area around the sun look bluish to the human eye.
Sunset on Mars
This is something I definitely want to see with my own eyes, through a spacesuit.
There is a planet made of Diamonds
Yeah, you read that right. Just one visit to that planet and a souvenir would make some significant change in my life here on earth.
Thery call it the "super earth," aka 55 Cancri e. And they say it is most likely covered in graphite and diamond. It is also twice the size of the Earth. There sure would be enough diamonds to go around. Did you know a diamond is the hardest substance known to man? And graphite, like in our pencils, has a very similar composition as diamond? It is amazing how a tiny variation can make such a big difference.
I think I have said quite enough to convince you why I would love to visit space. And spending a whole week there would be absolutely incredible for me. I do not want to write here a book on why I want to visit space. That would be absolutely weird, so I will just stop here. 'Til another day for another topic about space.
