Hello, beautiful people! Welcome to my blog. It's a pleasure to have you in this space. Once again, welcome 🤗
I have been given different advice at different stages of my life; some changed and impacted me, while others made me regret my decision.
One piece of advice that has had a large impact on my life is this phrase that's always echoed by my dad: "always remember the home you are from." Whenever my dad is advising me, he will always use this phrase.
At first, as a child, I didn't really understand the depth of that until I got to the university, a world filled with different adventures to explore with different experiences.
Growing up in a strict home, I didn't go out much; even the times I went on outings, it was always together with my family, so a part of me wanted to explore life to the fullest, and since I was finally living on my own, hundreds of kilometers away from my family, this was the best opportunity I had to do whatever I wanted to do without anyone cautioning me.
Being a fresher in the university, I met a lot of wolves in human form looking for whom to devour, but my dad's advice saved and delivered me from them all. My upbringing didn't allow me to go astray even when I had different opportunities to do things contrary to how I was brought up, and till date that advice is still helpful; there are times I would want to do so, then I will hear my dad's advice echoing in my head.
I remember my 200 level in the university. I was reading in the class for a biostatistics exam when a 300-level student met me and asked what I was doing. I told him I was reading biostatistics, and he told me not to overstress myself with the reading because I will definitely carry over the course.
I was shocked and asked why he said that he said because a lot of people usually carry over the course some up to two or three times, though that was not the first time I was thinking about how students carry over that course. Even when we wrote our test, there were a lot of carryover students, but I wasn't scared and bothered until this guy came with his bad advice.
I almost listened to him until I mustered courage and asked him if people had ever passed the course in one sitting; he said yes. Then I told him I also would write the course once and pass; he laughed at me silly, but I passed that course with a B.
This taught me that people will always want to pour their failures and frustration on us because they didn't succeed, but we must be strong and courageous not to allow anything to sway us away in our path to success.
