@galenkp Thank you for your resilience and insight for two years straight. Keep being amazing. Happy anniversary to the weekend engagement communication. I'm glad to be joining this contest today, you can also join the contest here

Two songs or pieces of music
Name two songs or pieces of music that have meant a great deal to you, defined moments in your life, made you feel great happiness or great sorrow when you hear them or take you back to a special moment. Explain why in each case. You can link the YouTube videos if you like

I've always seen music as therapeutic and capable of reaching the most guarded hearts. Music is powerful, reaching and soothing. It is only normal that different music hit different people differently.
So to answer this challenge question I will name two of the many songs that mean something to me.
The first song I will mention is *My life is in your hands" by Kirk Franklin.

This song is top on my list kinda because fourteen years ago in 2008 when my mother was dying, her cell phone was always with me and it rang a whole lot. Everyone wanted to know how she was doing, if she was getting better. As her case worsened and we started to lose hope, I decided to do something to at least give her and myself hope so I changed her phone ringtone. I changed it to this song because it is a song of assurance that one needn't worry, God is in control.
Although she eventually died that same year, this song became a constant reminder of her struggles and the hope we held on to. It also reminds me of my mother's last moments.

The second song I will like to mention is
"Miss Independent" by Ne-yo
As a college student abd teenager. I was so into love songs and romantic music as this. Miss Independent happens to be one of many songs then that gingered me about being the best version of myself.
Iike the part where Ne-yo describes the girl and the way she affects him. It made me want to be independent, it made me believe that the way to go is the independent way and that really made a lot of sense for me. Still does.
This song made me want to always stand out, be a different type of girl and of course shoe a lot of young men interested in me pepper. (Don't mind me). So up till today I still love the sound and it reminds me of what my thoughts were as a beautiful teenager.

Of course I'm older and now have other interests when it comes to music but I still love to listen to romantic music once in a while.

And that's it, two songs that bring back great memories. I'm glad that I could join the contest this week. Thank you for reading.

Sort:

That was such a kind gesture of yours to change your mom's ringtone to bring hope and comfort. Music does that and clearly you knew that you both needed it.

I love that your second choice brings back nostalgic memories from when you were a teenager, time travelling in it's own way.

Thanks for your entry.
