I thought we weren't going to plan anything today, I mean, Mom clearly said that we won't prepare anything for the Basudani Festival, which is, by the way, tomorrow, January 19. We usually cook two to three dishes in the past for that special day, with some desserts too. You know to share it with friends, colleagues, or just anyone we know that will visit us at home. Doing all the cooking is really tiring for Mommy D, who is the cook, while Mommy F - well, she's the banker, lol - and I'm the dishwasher ᕙ(͡°‿ ͡°)ᕗ

Anyways, I already planned my day today, so after feeding all our cats, I then get a few of my dirty clothes in my room because I want to wash them. I didn't wash a lot, though, just 6 shirts and undergarments. So I had already prepared the detergent and water, and then suddenly, Mommy F told me to accompany Mommy F in the market to buy some ingredients. I just can't help but get annoyed at that time because I thought we were not doing anything today.

But then, she had a change of mind again. I mean, this is really not the first time that it happened, so I should be used to it now. But I really thought this time was different. But it's not, so no choice, it's a duty call. Lol. I'm the kind of person that hates it when what I planned is interrupted because I'll be for sure, lazy to do everything again. Anyways, I left my laundry for a while soaking them in water with a detergent.

Then we proceed to go to the market. It's just a slow walk, whenever I walk with Mommy D, I feel like I am walking with a kid with very tiny legs. Because we are really walking slowly, I like it either way. And I prefer it that way. While I'm with Mama, I feel like we are in a walking competition because of how fast she walks. Lol. I'm already running out of breath while Mama is just having a lovely and pleasant walk, lol.

So, into our first stop, the meat section. We look for a pork first and then a pork liver, but unfortunately, it's not available. There's a lack of supply of pork meat in our place, sadly. So we ended up getting 2 kilos of chicken meat. When we got there, I thought there were already a lot of people doing their shopping too, but surprisingly, there were just a few people in there. It's not crowded yet. Or maybe we are just too early, that is why.

Next is in the vegetable section. We checked other stalls before coming here, actually. Their vegetables here look fresher than the others though, and the price is not that high either. We took our time choosing the potatoes and the carrots we need. We only bought 1 kilo for 150 pesos. That's like almost $3. They have the same price, yes.

And after getting the ingredients we need for the dish for tomorrow, we then proceed to buy the dish for today, especially for lunch. I am actually craving Pinakbet, but I couldn't find that ready-to-cook pack. You know, it's the kind that has every vegetable that is needed in a Pinakbet already in a pack. Sadly, they are not available today. Maybe because the vegetables needed for it are really expensive right now. So what I did was just buy two kinds of vegetables, which are eggplant and squash. I also bought an oyster sauce. I want my Pinakbet a little bit sweeter, and oyster sauce will give that taste to my recipe today.

And I'm also the one who preps and cooks it because later Mommy D will be very busy cooking.

After having our lunch, we made a simple dessert, which is Mom's specialty, a milky gelatin with pineapple chunks and crushed Oreos on top. I'm still not sure how it tastes with that crushed Oreo on top, but we'll know later. We put it in the fridge first because it's best to eat when it's cold.

Happy Basudani Festival! Viva Sto. Niño!

Wow! That stuff that your mom made looks fantastic! Maybe this deserves a post with a recipe some day?

Happy basudani!

Omg, what to do, I didn't watch her when she made this, lol. But yeah, maybe soon, when she make one again, in the future (≧▽≦)

What a fun and relatable story! 🛒🍳 The market adventure and last-minute fiesta prep sound both hectic and heartwarming.

Seriously, mapagod mejo but it's okay, it's for all the fun naman later \(^o^)/

Yey, bukas na ang pista I always look for dessert everytime I go for event like this.

Yayy, haha, its today. We prepare just a little, haha.

The term Basudani is new to me, here in Cebu it is Sinulog Festival both are offered to Santo Nino.

Basudani, its sounds like the name of Bansud, which is the name of our town. Pero im still not sur me where Basudani came from (≧▽≦)
