The Best Part of My Sunday: Embarking on a Journey to the Public Market for My "Kakanin Hunting"

in #hive-168869last year

This morning, I woke up thinking about food, particularly "kakanin," or foods made of rice. As in, I just opened my eyes, but that's the first thought that came to mind. Seriously, I feel like a pregnant woman craving something so early in the morning.

So, of course, I have to do something about it. That is why I decided to embark on a journey and go "kakanin" hunting into the Public Market! I mean, visit the market and buy some Kakanin, lol.

6:14 a.m., and I was already out on the road. It was a good decision, as I get to witness such beauty. It's not hot yet, and I'm sure that the market is not yet filled with lots of people, or so I thought. Actually, I just opened Mom's store and went on a journey right after that.

What a beautiful view to start the day. I took my time walking, as I am really not in a hurry. I am filming this scene using my camera and my eyes, and I already put it in my heart as I want to remember this scene, which makes me feel happy and content with my life.

My life is maybe just a simple and boring one to some as I don't really socialize and explore outside, but this is my thing, this is what I enjoy the most, and these simple things are the ones bringing me the most joy in my life.

How about you? Are you happy? ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ

As I continued my walk, I saw more things along the way that added to my happiness at that time. I'm not sure about the others, but if I see something that is pretty, or even if it's not, I will take my time to look at it and capture that moment. Though doing the last part would be hard if there were a lot of people watching, I might just skip it and just remember that thing in my head.

Aren't they too pretty to ignore? Whenever I'm with Mama and we pass by this spot, I always take a second look at this part. Even if I want to take it's photo, I just can't because it is actually the outside of a restaurant and there are people inside. If I position my phone to capture it, they might think that I am spying on someone or something.

So I couldn't get the chance to capture it. All I can do is remember it. But now I had the chance to finally record it on my phone. I am so early outside, the restaurant is still closed, so I took that chance. Though the store on the opposite side is already open and the lady inside was looking at me as if she is questioning my existence, Maybe the lady was curious. I mean, there are some people who can't see the beauty of this kind of thing, so maybe they don't have an idea that this is what I'm after and not that thing that she's currently thinking, whatever she's thinking at that time, lol.

Moving on, I decided to take a shortcut to get to the market faster. Just a few turns, and I can already see it, the light of happiness, lol. Can you see it too? On the second picture? Lol. I just have to walk straight in there to reach my destination. By the way, on this path I'm taking, there's also a shop inside, as you can see. Some are still closed, but there are already three stores that are open.

Finally! I can already hear noises from it. For sure, there are already a lot of people inside. I really thought I was the early one here, but I guess there are a lot of other people who thought of visiting the market as early as this. This is the best time to buy because there are surely a lot of fresh crops here that anyone can use in their daily lives.

There are already a few people inside, some are just setting up in their chosen spot. For sure, when the clock hits 7 a.m., more people will come rushing in here. It's a good thing I decided to come here earlier.

I just looked around a little after that, and I spotted the stall where lots of kakanin were displayed. I immediately went there to choose the kind of kakanin, or rice cake, that I wanted. I am craving a "Puto," so that's what I look for first.

Here are different kinds of "Kakanin" that you can buy here. There are a lot of choices, actually. As for their price, it is not that expensive, but, of course, they have already increased their price for each kakanin. As the price of every ingredient continuously rises, they have no choice but to also increase their price. It can't be helped.

I am very excited to eat these kakanin that I bought, so after picking up the kakanin I want, I return home. By the way, they also sell different kinds of plants here. They are really pretty, and they look healthy too. They can be a good decoration in the house if someone decides to buy them.

I have to take a detour as I also need to buy cat food for our pet. Consuming one kilo of cat food only takes a few days now. They are getting bigger and bigger, and as they grow bigger, they look for more food every second, Aigooo.

Going back to the rice cakes, here they are with their toppings on different plastics. We have here grated coconut for the puto and latik for the tamales and sticky rice.

I bought puto, kutsinta, tamales, and some sticky rice that I'm not sure what it's called. I just call it sticky rice because it is really sticky and soft. It's hard to chew because of its stickiness. Mama said that she's afraid to eat it because it sticks to her throat even after chewing it for a long time. It is that sticky. That's also why I didn't eat a lot of it.

I am really craving Puto, but I enjoyed the Kutsinta more. This white steamed rice is what we called "puto." You can top it with grated coconut. Actually, there are a lot of versions of it now, but I still prefer this kind of puto, which is made with rice flour. Because, you see, some use all-purpose flour on the other version of puto and with different toppings too, like cheese. I don't hate it but if I will to choose, I will still the one which is make of rice flour.

And here are the kutsinta and tamales. And seriously, I love this Kutsinta here. It has cheese, but I didn't taste much of that cheese. I also top it with grated coconut. But even with those toppings, the taste of Kutsinta took over. I don't know, it is really tasty and flavorful, it has enough sweetness in it, which I really love. As for the tamales, they taste okay, but I like Kutsinta more. This one is a little salty, but thanks to Latik, the taste gets better with it.

And this is how the journey of "Kakanin" hunting ends. It's a good find, we're happy with it ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ, even my oldies.
