I had an activity filled workweek last week. I got to learn so many new things and connect with so many people doing the things I aspire to do. But was I tired and exhausted? Yes. Did I find things to laugh about? Definitely. Did I have reasons to cry? Unfortunately. As usual, the only thing I looked forward to was my weekend.
On Friday though, I was asked if I would be attending the coronation ceremony of my boss. I made mention in an earlier post that my boss was a Queen mother. I really had no intention of going. The weekend wasn’t enough for me especially considering how exhausted I was and I wasn’t ready to take some hours away.
But I was told it wasn’t even an option to decide to not attend the event. Especially because, my boss has had me helping her with some activities relating to the ceremony. She has me distribute the cloth for the event and many other things. So I thought long and hard about it and decided to go.
But then I didn’t have the cloth for the ceremony. So the other option was to wear white. And guess what, I don’t have any white outfits.I spent the rest of the evening trying to find a dress on instagram. I finally did, but dresses aren’t my thing and I wasn’t feeling it when I tried it on.
On Saturday, I got dressed in a casual outfit and packed the dress for the event.
I decided to go to my friend’s place and then take an Uber to the event. I got stuck in traffic trying to reach my friend. The event was scheduled for 3 pm and I finally made it there around 5:30 pm. I was actually thinking they would be done when I got there but it looked like they still had so many things to do.

The setting was nice. I’ve never attended any such thing and didn’t really know what to expect. I looked around for familiar faces, saw a few but I couldn’t find the ladies I work in the same unit with. I tried to reach one of them but her phone was off. So I just had to sit down and observe whatever is happening. I couldn’t really get much pictures and videos because my phone’s battery was about 7%.
There were occasional gunshots and a lot of cultural displays. Then the Queen mother(‘Manye’ in Ga) gave an acceptance speech and also lunched her girl power project. Soon after, it was getting dark and people started leaving. I had to wait and get a picture because why exactly did I go there.
It was only after I got home that I realized I had food tickets and didn’t get any food. Like it didn’t even cross my mind to join the queue for the food.
Though it led me to spending the whole day out, I felt refreshed having spent the day out in the open and not confined in an office with air conditioning that makes your bones hurt.
