May people meet good days and good times always but not related to accidents ever! It might be easy to say it after a few years have passed that an accident actually resulted in fun but honestly, when it happens, it shows you the stars. Hospital is one place I never never want to go.
But as I said above, the time has passed now and it should be fun sharing this as a write up.
It was 2017. I We were five friends sitting in our office cafeteria. We were having lunch, talking good stuff. And suddenly there was a loud noise. The noise was too much, all of us got scared all of a sudden. After a few seconds, I asked my friend sitting opposite to me about what just happened. She replied, "the glass door behind you fell on your head."
In that moment, I didn't even realize that happened. I felt no pain, nothing at all. And then I saw a rush of crowd towards me, people suddenly started getting out of their chairs and came closer to mine and were literally staring at me. Some of them were trying to lifet the glass door from my head while others were trying to figure out how to rush me to the hospital.
My friends were holding me tight to keep me calm but honestly, I still didn't know something has happened to me. I mean I could be one of those helping to lift the door, LOL.
By the time the car came, that was supposed to take me to the nearby hospital, I realised there was blood in my hair. There was blood oozing out of my head and noticing that, I almost fainted. My friend offeref me a glass of water and made me sit inside the car. The driver drove at a super speed to get me there ASAP.
We made it to the emergency section of the hospital where some doctors immediately came to see what has happened. Once I was monitored, they told us that the wound was not that deep and stiches would not be required, but staples should definately be used. The fact that someone was going to use a stapler on my head shook my crazy. I started crying and my closest friend was crying too and at the same time consoling me.
The doctor came, gave me some injections, put some medicine on my would and then gave me staples. I held my friend's hand so tightly while they were giving me staples. The first one went into my head and I realised it was simple. No pain at all. Then I got comfortable and allowed the doctor to do his job properly.
My husband was called my the HR. He was informed of the incident and obviosly he was really worried. By the time my treatment was done in the hosspital, my husband was there. As soon as I saw him, I hugged him and cried. He told me all is good and he is there with me.
He took me home.
Now what good really came out of it?
My organization was very rigid when it comes to work from home. They didn't believe in it and never allowed us to work from home. But after this incident, they had to allow me because the incident happened at the workplace and if I chose to complaint against the poor infrastructure maintainenece, it would have been a big thing.
And from there on, there was no stopping. They started work from home culture on need basis. Everytime there was some emergency for any of the employees, they would allow them to operate from home.
My fellow collegues literally thanked me for it 😁
It was not a good experience but has become a memory for me. I am still scared of glass doors and always avoid sitting close to them now.
Thanks for reading!
