World of academia and research has been changed by AI

Today is a pretty disturbing day.

The day that I accepted that the world of academia and research has been changed by AI. Forever.

Never did I know the day would come so fast. That all the experiences and skills gathered some years ago as graduate students and then as faculty member now easily replaced by AI.

Let's just say it is just for the research side of things. Writing research will take a new approach, as if I just woke up from a bad dream. Writing for research and understanding the world through writing can now perhaps remain on Hive. A place for free writing on the blockchain.

Ever since the advent of ChatGPT, or generative AI, loads of new AI services came to the market.

This is how writing or doing research would and should look like moving forward.

First, use some AI literature review tool to generate ideas. They will plough through the literature in a few seconds, and give us some summary, which then becomes directions for new investigation. Sicte https://scite.ai/assistant and SciSpace are two such tools.

Second, we can go and collect some data after designing the study. Here I am sure the design of the research can be helped by AI. Even ChaGPT will do it, or at least the inspiration will be gotten.

Third, AI can also help with data analysis with some Python magic, if you will. Gone are the days we would need to spend time learning about statistics like we did for exams. Just ask ChatGPT to teach us on the fly.

Fourth, once we have the results. We can summon an app like Yomu https://app.yomu.ai/ to help us with the writing.

I can't go on. I feel like I am running against AI and it is wearisome.

I need to slow down and think. So that I wait at the corner to catch AI when its greatest ideas comes next.

Slow down so that inspiration can catch up. This one AI cannot do.
