More than a week ago, before boarding a train, I spotted a unique yellow-looking train that I’d never ever seen before. As someone who frequents rail stations, I’ve almost seen all kinds of trains, from passenger, long-distance, sleeper, luxury, monorails, and even cargo or freight trains. But the one I spotted the other week was something new to me.

I ended up googling what type of train it was, and apparently, it is called the Tamping Machine. This rail-mounted machine is used to maintain railway tracks. It is intriguing that there is a whole Wikipedia page describing how it operates and functions. This train keeps the railway running smoothly, helping maintain the track by correcting the alignment and preventing derailments that can cause a train accident. If you want to geek out about this "Train" Tamping machine

I couldn’t take pictures closer, but just from behind the gates that separate the rail tracks from the passenger's waiting area. I initially thought it was a rescue train because they are also yellow over here. Still, after a little closer inspection, I realized it wasn’t. At the same time, where I was boarding isn’t the type of station and area where accidents often happen, so it’s a bit inefficient to station the rescue train in this area. That’s how I deduced it wasn’t a rescue train but something else.

Have you ever spotted a tamping machine?

Ahhhh what a lady! Posting pics of trains!

It looks very much like a Plasser American. As far as I'm aware, all engineering vehicles on the railways of the world are yellow!

Spoil me please. More trains !
