Marisol had everything she desired. In a world where many struggled to survive, she considered herself fortunate. She longed for a complete partner, and in Adam, she found just that.
Tonight was poised to be the apex of her happiness; Adam planned to propose during their dinner date. Despite his efforts to keep it a secret, Marisol stumbled upon the engagement ring while searching for her earrings in his closet. Suppressing a delighted gasp, she hastily returned the box to its hiding place. Exiting his room with newfound excitement and anticipation, she couldn't help but wonder if tonight would mark the beginning of their forever. Yet, as she drifted off to sleep, she couldn't shake the absence of a ring on her finger.
January 11th, 2023:
The intimate gathering was exactly how Marisol envisioned her celebration. With only a handful of close friends present, she felt content in Adam's company. She wrapped up her speech, exhilaration coursing through her veins, when Adam tapped her shoulder, holding a familiar box.
A surge of emotions overwhelmed Marisol at the sight of the box. Could this be it? Her heart raced with anticipation. Oblivious to the absence of a traditional proposal stance, she eagerly awaited the moment she would become Mrs. Anderson. However, her excitement turned to confusion as Adam presented her not with a ring, but with a necklace. Despite the disappointment lurking beneath her facade, she forced a smile, unwilling to tarnish the festive atmosphere with her true feelings.
14th February 2024:
The chirping of birds greeted Marisol as she prepared to surprise Adam at his office. Determined to inject some romance into their Valentine's Day, she opted for a personal delivery of gifts and flowers.
Upon arrival, Marisol found herself engaged in conversation with an elegant woman in the reception area. Her eyes inadvertently wandered to the woman's glistening diamond ring, a stark reminder of the elusive promise that remained unfulfilled in her own relationship. Before she could delve deeper into her thoughts, the secretary interrupted, announcing Adam's availability.
Confusion clouded Marisol's mind as the secretary referred to Adam as her husband. Bewildered, she watched the mysterious woman stride confidently into Adam's office, leaving her grappling with unanswered questions and a sinking feeling in her heart.
