Temporary beach.

There was a time when we often had the opportunity to go to the temporary beaches. But that time seemed to have passed. The last time a temporary beach fell from the sky was months ago. Since then, many of our siblings couldn't withstand the terrible heat that usually lasts for weeks and decimates many of us. Sometimes, we are lucky to find a puddle or two to cool off, but in most cases, we have to take shelter in human homes because even the trees have become increasingly scarce, at least in this region.

I had the opportunity to see how big the world is when one day I went on an adventure with friends. We hitchhiked on one of those large vehicles that humans use, and through that, we could visit various places. I know some forests and beaches are not temporary; I also know that the water in those beaches is salty. There are truly many beautiful and airy places to live where heat is not such a great concern, but it's hard to know where a human hitchhike might take us.

Many of us have ventured out like this and never returned. Thousands have died along the way. That's why most of us prefer to simply stay in the anthill, be useful to the family. We can build, make the anthill stronger and expand it, and we can hunt to keep the family always fed. Unfortunately, what we can't do is save the family from the heat; that is more difficult. That's why the anthill needs to be strong, that's why we dig deeper and deeper into the ground because fortunately, where we live, it's cool down there.

I almost couldn't believe it when I went to get food and saw the gray sky; it meant that a temporary beach would soon form. This way, we could cool off, and perhaps bring some water to the reservoir down there. We eagerly waited to hear the sound of all that water falling, at the same time, we strengthened the structure of our anthill so that all that water wouldn't destroy us completely. We waited.

But the rain only came the next day, it wasn't so strong, and we all were fine. But when it stopped, what a beautiful thing! An incredible temporary beach. My children were seeing one for the first time, and we had a magical day of many games. Hopefully, it won't take so long for this to happen again.

At first I never knew you were going to make us see the world from an ants eye. Wow! I wonder how you came up with such brilliant idea. I love it. 👏

In fact, this is something I've thought about since I was a child, haha: ''Are large mud puddles like beaches for ants?'' I just organized this very old thought. (:

And you delivered it beautifully. Bravo!

This is very clever, @aiuna. The concept of temporary beaches at first perplexes and then we realize we are seeing the world through the eyes of an ant.

Many of us have ventured out like this and never returned. Thousands have died along the way

Very nice. We all have seen the ants scurrying about in service of their nest. They do seem to have little concern for their individual safety.

You do capture a unique point of view. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Thank you very much! I'm glad you liked it.

The cyclic nature of the environment is shown by the ants' eager anticipation for the next rain and temporary beach after months of drought. The simple pleasures of cooling off and playing with the delight of experiencing something for the first time are beautifully depicted.

I love how the story is told through the eyes of an ant, it makes one to see them as more than just an insect. This is a very creative piece

Thank you!

I really liked reading this story, your letters make us see it from the perspective of an ant. Something like rain can be as destructive or create a paradise to enjoy.

Thanks for sharing.
Good day.
