THE UNEXPECTED ENCOUNTER

Danielle was definitely not prepared for this. It's been over ten years since he left with no looking back. Without caring about his two twins, whom he left behind with only her to care for. Danielle Anderson had just come back from the office where she worked as a receptionist for a publishing company. Coming home every day to meet her two twins whom she left with their nanny, Maria, to take care of, was always the best part of her day. To her, those twins were her joy, her happiness. She didn't know what she would do if anything were ever to happen to them.

"Mummy! Mummy! ' The twins chimed as they made their way towards the door to hug her

Danielle beamed with a smile as she hugged her ten-year-old twins. This was real happiness, she thought to herself. She never thought she could be this happy ever again after what happened ten years ago. Jack, her husband, had left her broken. Their relationship was a toxic one. One that left both partners feeling miserable. They would always fight and argue on a constant basis. But somehow find their way back to each other. Danielle loved her husband no doubt. But their relationship was an unhealthy one. Their fights were epic. You could hear their shouts and quarrels from a mile away. Sometimes they would get physical, breaking plates, slamming doors and throwing insults at each other. Even family and close friends became used to their constant fights and quarrels. But despite all the emotional roller-coaster, Danielle and jack always found their way back to each other. They were toxic, but their love was stronger. And close friends and family marveled at how they still remained together despite it all.

Their fights and quarrels were like a cycle. They would forgive each other, reconcile and get back together and then have another heavy fight. It kept on repeating, until one day they had a heavy break out, and it turned out their love wasn't strong enough to keep them together.

Danielle smiled a sad smile as she remembered that faithful night he walked out on them. She had just come back from work that evening, to meet an angry Jack. They had another fight and it was so intense. One offense led to another and at the climax of it all, he decided he had enough and walked out on her. Ever since then she had never set her eyes on him again. Weeks passed, he never came home. She tried looking for him in every possible place he could be, but it was like he vanished into thin air. From weeks, it stretched into months and then years. And so she realized that he had abandoned her, just like that with their two little twins that were barely up to a year old.

The pain she felt was beyond anything she had ever felt before. Danielle was so lost. How could she possibly raise two twins all by herself? She was beyond devastated at the realization that Jack had abandoned her. For years, she spent her time trying to get back on her feet and work back on her life. It's been ten years now. And although the scars were still there to remind her of her painful past, looking at her two twins, her world, she could no longer feel the pain. She had fully healed and was now a happy fulfilled mother.

Although she had healed, she had never in her dreams expected that she would ever meet him again. She never wanted to see him.

She smiled a mocking smile, realizing how life plays games at us. Six months ago, her best friend Ginnie had playfully asked her what she would do if he popped up one day on her doorstep.

"I'll never see him again. Let's not waste our time thinking of what ifs"

She had answered Ginnie that day.

"Well, you know the saying, never say never."

"Anything can happen" Ginnie said to her that day.

And now standing in front of her door, face to face with the man that turned her world upside down, wrecked her and left her a broken shell of herself. She was dumbfounded. She didn't know what to do, what to feel, or how to react. A swirl of mixed feelings flooded her instantly. She felt relief, anger, bitterness and sadness all at once. Seeing him brought back all the painful memories Danielle had put behind her. But at that moment, in the midst of the chaos that was going on within her, she was certain of one thing; she was never letting him into her life again.

"Get out! And don't you ever come here again" she said angrily, slamming the door in his face.

Hmmm... Danielle did not try at all. It's not good to be quarreling with your woman by making her sober. This is what some men had turned into. This means that women need to be careful.
