Once upon a time in the land of Akanwa, there lived a little girl named Adanna, cherished by her parents and family due to circumstances beyond her birth and that happened to be me. As a child, I was showered with attention and gifts, and my every wish was met by my parents.

My father, being the first son, married his first love, my mother, at the age of eighteen, as per his parents' wishes. In Akanwa, it was believed that those with only two sons needed to marry early to avoid infertility issues. My mother was betrothed to my father at the age of 10, while he was 13. Once he turned 18 and my mother 15, they were legally married. After 10 years, my grandparents lost hope. They encouraged my uncle Udo to marry, and luckily, his wife Sarah gave birth to triplets - two boys and a girl, bringing joy and happiness to my grandparents. However, their joy remained unfulfilled due to my parents' barren condition.

In the 12th year of my parents' childlessness, God remembered them, and I was born. They showered me with love. As a child, I loved music more than food. I enjoyed staying with my grandpa because he, too, loved music, and I adored the beautiful songs that came from his old record player. My parents said I started playing my grandpa's flute at the age of four, which made him fond of me.

As I began my education, I focused more on music than on studies. As I grew older, my parents grew concerned. They believed that a good education was crucial for a successful future and wanted me to prioritize my studies. However, my passion for music overshadowed everything else. While practicing music, my parents would try to distract me, but I remained focused on music, as it filled me with joy. They believed my grandfather was influencing me with his records. One evening, my father went to my grandfather and said, "Papa, I didn't go to university. Please allow my firstborn to concentrate on her studies. Stop telling her that music is life, and don't let her listen to your music anymore."

Grandpa said, "My son, music cannot hinder her from studying and becoming great. That child, Adanna, is destined for greatness. Allow her to be happy."

Father replied, "Who has been great with music in our community? Anyway, I know what to do."

As my parents, being naive, sent me to boarding school, my father said to me, "My daughter, I love you so much because you are my first blood. Your mother and I waited patiently for your arrival. Please, I want you to be a medical doctor. Please don't disappoint us."

I responded, "Papa, by God's grace, I will not disappoint you. All I need is your blessing."

Father added, "Adanna, please study hard so your siblings, John and Peter, can follow suit. They are looking up to you as their role model."

I said, "I love you, father. My love to my siblings and mother."

As my father was leaving, I felt happy that he had given me the freedom to pursue my heart's desires. I immediately joined the music club. While enjoying myself, I said, "Papa, thank you and God bless you for bringing me to this new school, where all my needs are provided." I joined the school choir also, and because of my talent, I could perfectly play guitar and piano. Every time I was on stage, my performance was extraordinary.

I do pretend to be serious with my academics when I came home, so my final results were not very good to study medicine, and my father was disappointed with me.
One evening, I engaged in a heated argument with my parents. My father's affection waned upon realizing my disinterest in pursuing a medical career.

Father: "Adanna, why conceal your aversion to progress? I could have spared expenses. Thank God for blessing us with more children."

Adanna: "Papa, if you truly care, support my passion for music, for it is a respectable profession."

Father: "I cannot endorse your impractical choice. I hoped you'd discern better after your grandfather's passing. God, why my firstborn?"

Mother: "Darling, please be patient. Let's bless her decision to pursue music."

Father: "Like mother, like daughter. No wonder you couldn't sway her. You seem to endorse her pursuits. Thank God for my sons; they won't fail me."

Feeling unwanted, tears welled in my eyes, and determination surged within. I packed my belongings, determined to pursue my dream of music, despite my father's' opposition. With tears, I told my mother, "Don't bother searching for me; I'll make you proud." Before leaving, I retrieved the necklace my grandfather gave me at 12, whispering, "Grandpa, my father has cast me out; may your spirit guide and bless me wherever I go."

Feeling scared and alone that hot afternoon, I walked around the city streets not knowing what to do. But when I found myself in the lively music scene, I felt better. I made friends with other musicians who shared my passion. That night I was given the chance to perform, and I sang wonderfully well. I got much money that I never thought I could get. The band begged me to join them, and we started playing at local places. After a month, we moved to the national level, and people loved our music.

Even though I faced many challenges, I never gave up on my dream of making music. When my father saw me performing on national television, he was surprised. After a few months, he called begging that I should come back home. I told him I am okay and will visit them soon. As I performed on stage, playing my guitar with skill and passion, I knew I was doing what I was meant to do.

After two years of hard work, my talent caught the attention of a famous record label. With their help, I released my first album, and it was a huge success. After which I started traveling abroad to perform. I became a star and glad living my dream.

As I visited my family on my father's birthday and gave him a car as a birthday gift, with tears in his eyes, hugging me he said, "My first blood, I am proud of you and glad you are brave like your grandpa, may his soul rest in peace."

End.

Thanks for passing by. God bless you
