Danny was an outcast, everywhere he went people always looked down on him because of his short legs. He'd been born that way and left in a dumpster by his parents, he didn't know for what reason, maybe they had thought him an abomination. There was no way for him to ask them because he had been so little and they had left him with nothing and he had no memories of them whatsoever.
Growing up in a foster home had been though for him. Others were considered normal and it didn't take long for them to be adopted. He'd had trouble with almost everything, running and even jumping, always falling last and every one always laughed at him. His foster mother Sandra had been the only one who showed Danny any affection.
"Your special Danny, very special", she'd remind him and stroke his ear till he fell asleep. She'd always treated Danny differently, gave him more care and nurtured him like he was her very own. This had mostly sprouted up resentment from the others and he'd had his own share of their hatred, a broken nose, small portions of food and the coldest part of the room to sleep.
Then one day they'd had enough....
"Marcus, we need to get rid of him for good", Marco said, the one you'd consider the bull among the gang.
"Don't worry Marco, I have a plan", Marcus replied grinning from ear to ear and the others joined in a long exhausting evil laughter.
They all went for their usual stroll in the morning and the gang made sure to get poor Danny away from the rest, including Mama Sandra with a funny little trick. While everyone had been in the line, Francis had been on a tree some miles from their usual walk path and placed a broken glass directly facing the sun till the light reflected. Marco pretended to have noticed it first and raised Danny's attention towards it. Danny too who had no idea what it was became really curious. Then the mysterious light started to head away from the path into the nearby forest.
"C'mon Danny, the god of Light has made contact with us, I hear he chooses two people to bless every century! This is our chance Danny, c'mon!", Then he ran in the direction the light had went and without thinking twice Danny followed. They went deeper and deeper into the forest in search of an audience with the god of Light. Little did Danny know he'd been led to a trap. When Marco had finally led him to the exact spot where the pit had been dug for him, he stopped and faced him.
"How silly of you ol Danny, You believe any one could ever bless such an abomination like you!", laughter, and more laughter as the rest of the gang emerged from the shadows approaching Danny. His heart started to race faster and his ear started to shake uncontrollably. Danny started to see faces of hatred, evil wrought, anger and darkness push him deeper and deeper into the forest till he eventually fell inside the pit that had been dug for him. The pit wasn't that deep, but it was deep enough to keep someone with hands and legs like him trapped.
"Guys! Please don't leave me here! Please guys, I'm too young to die!, Danny called out to them as tears filled his eyes but no one responded to him, they left him like everyone always did. He tried and tried to climb out, but his legs were no good. After he'd struggling and shouted for hours without any help, fatigue hit him and he slept.
"You think it's still alive?".....
Danny opened his eyes to see the god of Light stretched over him. ..
No it wasn't the god of Light! It was a blonde lady and a beautiful little girl by her side.
"Mummy, can we keep him, can we keep the little dog??, He's so cute!".
"Certainly hunny we can as soon as we certify that it doesn't already have an owner, but first we have to get him to a vet", with that she carefully lifted him and took him away.
