Today Is Tomorrow

"Tomorrow is going to be the best day of my life."

Those were his last words before Ned went to bed last night. He gets up from bed refreshed and happy.

Fifty push ups, couple minutes of screaming at the mirror, Ned puts on his thick blue jacket and walks out of the house with a broad smile on his cheeks. Few blocks out, a kid runs up to him;

"Uncle Ned, you are looking fabulous! going on a date?"

"Very funny, Jimmy. Why are you not in school yet?"

"No school for me today. Ma is ill."

The kid ran off, while Ned made his way to the junction waiting for a taxi. A dark man with broad shoulders, with a thick scarf on his head pulled up in a green taxi.

"Hello young Mister, what is your destination, I would love to get you to your destination, with comfort, the best in the nation."

"Wow, Is that how you get your stars and tips?"

Ned said smiling as he got into the taxi. Few minutes later, getting off from the taxi he walks into a coffee shop.

"Mister wait your turn"

People kept screaming as he jumped the queue and walked straight for the coffee counter.

"You are up early bro."

The fair blonde girl said from the other side of the counter.

"Sam today is 7th c'mon. You know how it is."

Ned said pointing at the calendar on the wall, which has a bold red circling on 7th. They were still talking when an angry huge man walked up to the counter.

"Yo miss, Are you gonna sell us coffee, or would you rather chat all day with handsome here?"

"I'll talk to you later bro, I got to work."

The day goes by quite as planned, or so it seemed. The last thing he remembers was drinking with friends at the party. He wakes up the next day happy for, He tries to remember how the previous day was spent, but it was all a bit sketchy.

Fifty push ups, couple minutes of screaming at the mirror, Ned walked into the streets. Few blocks out jimmy runs up to him again.

"Uncle Ned you are looking fabulous. Going on a date?"

"Jimmy you are not in school again, your Ma is still sick?"

"Still sick? She just got sick today. How did you know that anyway?"

"What do you mean, you told me that yesterday."

The kid runs off as Ned walked to the junction waiting for a taxi. The black man with a scarf on his head pulled up again with his green taxi saying.

"Hello young Mister, what is your destination, I would love to get you to your destination, with comfort the best in the nation."

"Is this your constant route now Mr Best in the nation."

Ned said as he got into the taxi.

"Constant route? This is my first day trying out this route."

"Yeah, right. You were the same taxi I entered yesterday. Same route."

"You have the wrong person young Mister. I wasn't on duty yesterday because I attended a friend's burial."

The driver started lamenting the tragedy of his dead friend and Ned didn't get the chance to clarify himself before they got to his destination. He walked into his sister's coffee shop as people screamed.

"Wait your turn Mister"

"I'll never get used to that." Ned said you himself as he made his way to the counter.

"You are up early bro."

"Why is everyone acting weird today."

"What do you mean bro?"

Ned looked at the wall and saw that the calendar was still indicating 7th.

"Sam why is your calenar still reading 7th?"

"What are you talking about? Today is 7th. You don't seem excited about the big day.

"Sam something is not right. I think I have lived this day before."

"That is crazy."

"Watch this, that huge guy is going to walk up here and complain right.. about ..now."

"Yo miss, are you gonna sell us coffee or would you rather chat all day with handsome here."

The huge man said gazing at Ned who was mimicking what he said.

"Obviously you knew he would complain because he has been staring at you from the queue. Now I have to work, we will talk about this later."

Ned walked out of the shop confused with no clue of what was happening. Everything happened exactly as they happened the previous day.

"This all makes sense."

Michael screamed as Ned told him his predicaments.

"Before you arrived at the party, Juls was so excited about this year's party that he kept screaming he wishes tomorrow never comes. Perhaps his wish came to pass."

"How do I stop this?"

"Perhaps kill Juls. I'm just kidding man, maybe you have to stop him from making the wish."

It was too late, he had to wait till tomorrow, which is not actually tomorrow. He woke up, washed his face, grabbed his jacket and ran out of the house.

"Uncle Ned, you are looking fab..."

"Stay away from me kid!" Ned screamed at Jimmy as he kept running towards the junction. The green taxi pulled up.

"Hello young Mister, what is your destination, I would..."

"Just shut up and drive, nobody wants to hear your best in the nation nonsense."

Ned said as he hurried into the taxi, which drove over to his sister's shop.

"Sam I need 100 bucks."

Ned said as he approached his sister, who stared at him Head to toe.

"What do you need 100bucks for? and why are you up so early?"

"It's a pretty long story, just give me the money, I'll explain later."

"That's what you say all the time."

Sam reached for her pocket to bring out the money, then the huge guy walked up to the counter. He was about to speak when Ned interrupted him.

"Yeah Yeah, She is going to serve you coffee, I'm leaving. Meanwhile I think you go around calling people handsome because you are so mad at yourself for being ugly."

Ned took the money from his sister and rushed out of the shop, leaving his sister and the huge man standing in confusion. His next stop was Juls' house.

"Ned, to what do I owe your visit. I was just stepping out for the party."

"Yeah, I have a feeling that the party would be so much fun, with plenty of alcohol. Therefore I decided to get you this soda, to clear your system before the party starts."

"Wow, how do you know I love soda. And this is quite expensive $90 or so. Thank you. I think I'll save this for after party."

"Juls, it's best you take It now. I hear this brand also makes you good with the ladies."

Unknown to Juls that the soda has been laced with sleeping potions enough to pass him out for a whole day, he emptied the can of soda with large gulps. After some minutes, he dozed off on his chair. Ned was so happy that he has accomplished his mission. He attended the party, after which he went home and slept hoping to wake up to a new Tomorrow.

The next morning, he woke up with mixed feelings unsure if he was successful.

"No! no!! no!! It can't be."

"Uncle Ned, why you looking at me like you saw ghost. Mom said I should let you know that she is feeling better."

"What day is this?" Ned asked.

"It's Tuesday The 8th"

Ned grabbed Jimmy, lifted him up and hugged him so tight.

Hahahah. This is funny, Ned had to drug juls to sleep in other to get the tomorrow he had envisioned would be good. That's a great story there, I wish wishes comes true like that of juls, I would have wished not to grow older

You have made a short science fiction story,@doubleworld. The continuity of your story is well accomplished. Thank you for writing this story in @theinkwell. Please help us care for the growth of the community with timely comments to fellow writers.

Our friend has entered a one-day circular cycle because of a friend's desire. It is truly a desperate situation that you graph well with the repetition of the actions.
An imaginative and well described plot. Congratulations, @doubleworld

Yeah Yeah, She is going to serve you coffee, I'm leaving. Meanwhile I think you go around calling people handsome because you are so mad at yourself for being ugly."

This part had me cackling... Oh wow... Nice he made his way around it.

This is such a good story, I can't even imagine that happening to me, I will love and hate it.

The people doing V2K want me to believe it is this lady @battleaxe Investigate what she has been up to for 5 years. Its the next step to stopping this. Make her prove where she has been for 5 years or where she is now. She is involved deeply with @fyrstikken and his group. I cant say she is the one directly doing the v2k. Make her prove it. They have tried to kill me and are still trying to kill me. I bet nobody does anything at all. Make @battleaxe prove it. I bet she wont. They want me to believe the v2k in me is being broadcasted from her location. @battleaxe what is your location? https://ecency.com/fyrstikken/@fairandbalanced/i-am-the-only-motherfucker-on-the-internet-pointing-to-a-direct-source-for-voice-to-skull-electronic-terrorism

This is so good, @doubleworld. I've never known how anyone can create a tale where the same thing happens over and over and make it interesting. (Evidently there are several time loop novels sort of like Groundhog Day.) But you certainly did it! I was completely captivated and entertained from the beginning to the end.

There are a couple of places where I laughed out loud. The first was when he says "Stay away from me kid" to the neighbor boy. The second was the taxi:

"Hello young Mister, what is your destination, I would..."
"Just shut up and drive, nobody wants to hear your best in the nation nonsense."

And I also laughed when he tells off the coffee shop for calling people handsome. You have a great sense of humor!
