A soft breeze greeted Valeria as she went out of her house towards her swing that morning.

The birds just went down from the trees and the morning flowers started to bloom. She could feel everything alive as they always do each sunrise. They just woke-up like her and they look so appealing. The fragrance of the morning has been spread around by the wind. This has always been her morning and that's the reason why her father decided to make her a swing at the back of their house.

She was born near the mountains where her parents met. She also knew her parents loved her since she was still a baby, she could see it in their eyes and she needs them too like she needs the earth to be there for her. She was happy to have a life like this, a few walks on a dew laden grass filled with wild flowers before her mother would come and take her back for breakfast.

As often as life permits her, she also wanted to study as hard as she could for her parents as she has now learned to write letters with the help of her mother and write her name at the top of her paper.

Her name was Valeria but her parents call her Bale'l, but she doesn't know that.

Valeria went to school so early each day because her mother walks her to school. She is often found at the front seat of her the class gazing at her teacher but even how much she tried, she couldn't learn how much her teachers show and because of this she learned better instead at gazing at the letters but it was never enough. She was always found smiling at the class for no apparent reason all for she couldn't understand what her teachers say nor even her classmates.

She was four years old when she realized there was something wrong with her. She could see children understanding each other and play together--but not her, she was born to not be able to hear on both of her ears and she realized then why her parents love her so much. As an only child she was cared like a baby by her mother, and her father also adores her so.

She often look at herself in the mirror thinking why she was always this way. She couldn't finds answers she'd been wanting to know. She would often gaze at herself and notice her long black hair, her sweet smile that smile that would always made people smile back at her, but her eyes are blue, a sharp contrast to her warm skin. She would often envy other people with dark colored-eyes because they are so happy and they have friends, unlike her who couldn't understand people. Because of her condition she feared the dark more than ever and being all alone thinking that the void would swallow her whole. Her cries would often reached her mother, and her mother would often pick her up like a small child she once was. She loves her mother this way because she is her only friend. Her cousins love her too and her classmate but unlike her mother who cares for her, she love her the very best. Sometimes she cries in her sleep at night not knowing what to do and parents would cuddle her to sleep.

She learned now to love the life she have for she knew she will always have her parents with her and she would always be their little girl even if she is ten years old now. Valeria learned now to understand people by heart, the language that she herself knew best and see the world in a better light even if her ears doesn't permit her so. She loved what she see and felt, like the morning which she could smell too.

*This story is inspired from the world of our blue-eyed white cat named Putin, who is dearly loved by my parents. He is a boy cat, by the way. But I also heard that this condition is also found on humans.

You write with such sympathy for this young girl. How does one know about deafness, if one never has heard a sound? Of course by comparing your experience to the experiences of those around. You do a kindness to the reader by allowing us the joy of knowing this child is loved.

You use the prompt really well. For a deaf person (or cat) it must be very confusing until the issue is made clear.

Thank you for sharing this story with us, @janesuiren. We appreciate that you engage with other authors in the community.

Thank you @theinkwell🙏💕

Hmmm yeah, the cat, nothing to do with your personal experience 🧐😼😹

I'm not deaf😹 the cat really just like the morning sun and walking around the grass😸

Hello @janesuiren,

This story was particularly interesting to me because I had a deaf dog. The dog was always on alert. She used to sleep with her head on my husband's foot when he was at his desk. This was she could tell that he had moved. My mother was also very hard of hearing, not quite deaf, though as she got older it became harder to correct the hearing loss. So, your sensitive treatment of this issue moved me. Thank you.

Thank you too💕 i wasn't really caring when i was still a child but i started understanding a lot of people from having a lot of pets😊 there are a few people who really is sensitive about others, that's so amazing of you🥰
