The Wine Shop

The sky is glittering, and the stars and the moon are looking down on Sixth Avenue. Fred walks past the wine shop, and he is shocked that the shop is open. Fred stops and ponders "Could it be that the owner of the shop forgot to lock the doors?" He halts and looks around, the street is empty and he turns back to the wine shop.

Fred steps on the broken bottles on the floor and wonders what has happened. He closes the door to the wine shop. He looked around, and still,l he could not see anyone. Fred gets home, knocks on the door, and his mother, Mrs Rose, opens. "Fred I have told you never to come home by this time". Mrs Rose points at the wooden clock on the wall. Fred takes a look look at the watch, and it is 10 p.m. He shakes his head, saying, "Mum, I am sorry for coming home late. "

Fred is 18 years old; he works at the bakery along Fifth Avenue. He is hoping to be admitted into the university to study law. His father died when he was Five years old and his mother has been taking care of him. Fred is one young man who is determined to succeed. At the bakery, his boss is amazed at how honest he is and dedicated to his job.

Fred gets to the bakery and finds everyone glued to their phones. He takes a look at Jason's phone and sees the news that the owner of the wine shop he closed the door last night is missing. Fred stands and begins to wonder what had happened last night.

Fred taps Jason. "You know, last night, I walked past the wine shop in the news. I saw it open, and I went back and closed the door. I thought the owner forgot to lock it, only to hear the owner is missing". Jason looks unfazed and tells Fred "Don't worry, I'm sure the police are looking for the man. You did the right thing by closing the door".

Fred is worried about the story surrounding the missing man. Some say he was kidnapped; some say he is hiding away from his family. These different stories are getting Fred worried. Fred walks along the lonely path leading to his house, he is avoiding walking past the wine shop. He turns and looks around. He increases his pace. Opens the door and slams it. Mrs Rose jumps off the chair and hides behind the cushion.

"Mum, I'm back, Fred," he says as his mum comes out of hiding. "Why did you slam the door that hard? You scared me," Mrs Rose said, looking shocked. Fred looks at her and says "It felt like someone was following me". They hear a loud bang on the door and they run into the restroom.

"Fred, you can run, but you will meet us here waiting," The leader of the police team says. Fred comes out with his hands raised above his head. "You are wanted for questioning in respect to the missing wine shop owner, Mr Cole," the police officer says as he cuffs Fred. Mrs. Rose screams, "My son is innocent." She runs after the police van as it drives off.
She gets into her car and heads for the police station.

Fred is taken to the interrogation room and a video is played. The video shows the shop owner running out of the shop and then Fred coming out of the shop. Fred looks confused as he is sure nobody is in the shop when he checks why the door is open.

"Sir, this video is confusing as I'm sure no one was in the shop when I walked in and closed the door," Fred says, looking perplexed. "Young man, the video says otherwise. Where is Mr Cole?" the officer says as he hits the table. Fred looks at the officer and shakes his head. "I don't know anything about Mr. Cole." Mrs Rose is screaming and rolling on the floor. The policemen are laughing and making jest of her.

A man walks into the police station. Everyone is captivated by his height. He is 7 ft tall and is wearing a rather strange hat with feathers on it. "I'm Mr. Cole, and I hear you guys are looking for me." The policemen look at each other. They take a look at the picture of the missing person. "I went hunting for two days, and I returned to the news that I am missing." Mrs. Rose jumps up and shouts, "Release my son, and let us go home." The police inspector walks in and meets with Mr Cole. After about a minute, they shake hands, and Mr Cole walks out of the station.

Fred walks out of the investigation room, and Mrs Rose hugs him tight, and tears roll down her eyes. The police inspector shakes Fred and says, "We are sorry for the mix-up and the embarrassment we have caused you". Fred replies "I understand you were just doing your job". Fred walks out of the police station, holding his mother and teasing her. Mrs Rose was happy the whole situation was sorted out.
