Frituras (de lentejas)

_1310607.jpg

"No abuses, te di…go que… me sueltes".

This is what the lentils looked like after being soaked in water for 6 hours. She drained them and put them in the blender. Added some seasonings: garlic, onion, chili, cumin, parsley. Also a little bit of chicken broth.

Then everything changed. While blending, her head started spinning and spinning. One thought led to another as if they had set up dominoes forming a spiral and with the slightest touch...

However, it wasn't that fast, it took time for the hit, the reaction, to bite the dust and so on with each of the dominoes. Who would put them back up now?

"I don't have time for this nonsense", she said, and everything stopped.

Her thoughts went to a specific day, Sunday. To a particular moment, the soft and fresh touch of grass on her back and arms. A vision, a starry sky. A person, Danielle.

Those getaways to the ruins were their treasure. They only had to be there for a while for the magic to happen among the stars. Sometimes everything happened in silence; other times, they immersed themselves in a conversation that might seem casual, but there was so much more in that bunch of words.

"One day I'm going to buy this place", Beatriz said.

"Yes, of course, if someone doesn't buy it before you", Danielle replied with a mocking laugh.

"Even if someone bought it before, I would have the chance to buy it again, don't you think?"

"Well... oh, I hadn't thought of that", the girl reacted, stretching out the words as if they were gum, to which the other responded by turning a little on their left arm to begin the tickle battle.

Danielle always lost in this. Beatriz was already completely on top of her and subjected her with mastery, while the hand that remained free moved quickly, alternating between various points on her prey's body, where she knew she couldn't stand it.

"Let me go, Bea, please", Danielle pleaded, but with so much laughter that it seemed like she was enjoying it.

Making clumsy attempts to get away, at times she managed to make Bea fall, but she was faster and got up again.

"Don't abuse me, I'm telling you, let me go."

And so, sometimes she couldn't even be understood. Both were panting. It was already difficult to breathe between the effort and the laughter, until Bea decided to leave her alone and lie back down in the grass. The other had no more breath and even in that state cursed:

"I hate it when you do this! I've told you not to play like this. Look how you leave me, red like a tomato, senseless... I hate you."

"Nananana... look how relaxed you are". Danielle turned over on her right arm and slapped her.

Bea, surprised, touched her boiling face and managed to say: "I forgive you".

Both laughed in unison.

"Look, look, there they go". Danielle pointed excitedly to the two white horses that had just appeared in the sky.

They had been seeing them for a few months. Waiting for their appearance in the starry mantle of the night. Every Sunday, without fail.

"I wonder if they were always there, or just arrived the first night we discovered these ruins", Beatriz spoke.

Danielle stood up. She looked at the rough, but warm and familiar walls. She approached one of them and let her hand briefly caress the stones.

"It's our secret. No one else can know."

Beatriz also stood up, but with a little more calm. She shook her arms, pants, blouse... and went to where her friend was waiting.

"Of course it's our secret."

The things that happened afterwards no longer make any sense.

Today is Thursday. Danielle didn't go to the ruins on Sunday, nor did she answer Beatriz's calls. Time seems like gum. The blended lentils are now ready to be put in the hot butter. And perhaps this story can continue, but I have lost interest in writing it, for now.

Sort:

I didn't remember that anymore, but you jogged my memory. That fable of Diogenes and the lentils is very good. 👌

We human beings are very strange. One day someone told me that lentils were poor people's food, and now it turns out that everyone wants lentils which is the superfood.

A mí me encantan.

And the horses in the sky.

Y los corceles en el cielo.

😅

If ten people ask me to follow this story, I'll follow it hahahaha

It's amazing how some people just disappear from one day to the next, as if the time shared didn't matter. I hope you are encouraged to continue the story, I was left with many questions. Regards!

So drop them here so that I can answer them in the next chapter. 😁

What is the relationship between the ruins and the stars? Why did this astronomical phenomenon occur only on Sundays? How is it possible that only they could see it? What is the meaning behind all this? And of course, what happened between Beatriz and Danielle? Why did Danielle disappear? Their relationship, apparently, was very good.

I don't know if some of the answers are between the lines. I've never been good at deciphering such things. But those are the questions. I hope I haven't overdone it.

Things to clarify... It definitely needs to be continued. Everything has an answer, and as I say at the end that the story can continue, I'm hinting that there's a lot to develop here.

At the moment, things like someone disappearing because got scared, getting blocked, even something happening to this person... it could be. The other is visibly affected as she mixes the lentils, and thinks spirally.

😅/

Sometimes things get settled down and took a shape of storm in the whisper of silence.

Poetry! 😉

Beatriz and Daniela are beautiful characters, sensitive, young, cheerful... they have a beautiful friendship that endures a lot. What happened to Beatriz? As readers we are not satisfied with the ending, we want to know how this story ends.

Well, I know that many were dissatisfied (we will have to continue a little longer).
Actually I wanted to suggest. Life has its intricacies, Beatriz and the other character who is the narrator, in this case, me, we are fine. But we don't know about Danielle and it bothers us. Hahaha...

To be continued... 😅

Thank you!

So, lentils? I like them, though we have never made a fried version, just cocido. (correction for "we" - grandma used to make it).

If you meet Beatriz ask her if she needs a real estate agent, I know one who was selling a stone house lol

You should try these 😁

_1310610.jpg

If you meet Beatriz ask her if she needs a real estate agent...

🤣 morí.

Se ve muy rico! 👌

Sabe bien, sí.
Gracias ;)

I haven't seen lentils yet and reading this one I remembered Esau and Jacob in the Bible where Esau asked for it from Jacob.

The blended one looks delicious but the relationship between Beatriz and Danielle is great.

No lentils where you live?

I think so. They both have a very nice relationship and secrets that they keep.

Thank you 🙂

Lentils? Maybe we don't have or maybe we have it here but just didn't cross way with it hehehe.

Yay! 🤗
