As the clock struck midnight on New Year's Eve, Rita stood in her small apartment, surrounded by the quiet darkness of the night. She had spent the evening alone, reflecting on the past year and all its ups and downs. Now, as she looked out the window at the fireworks-lit sky, she felt a sense of determination wash over her.

"This was going to be my year, I'm going to take a bold step in my life", rita said to herself. The year she finally became in control of her life, made lots of positive changes, and achieved her long-pending goals. Rita had always been one to make New Year's resolutions, but this time, she was determined to see them through.

She sat down on the floor in her sitting room, she tore out a piece of paper and a pen, and began to write. Her resolutions flowed easily onto the page:

  • workout and exercise
  • stop eating junk foods
  • Read at least one chapter of the bible a day
  • spend less, save more
  • Learning new recipes
  • Building my own brand
  • Read more novels

As she finished writing, Rita felt a sense of excitement and motivation. She was ready to take on the new year and make it the best one yet.

The first few weeks of January were filled with lots of activities. Rita started working towards her resolutions, learning new recipes, working out, and saving more money. She even started taking cooking classes, something she had always wanted to try but she never seems to have the time.

But as time goes on, days turn into weeks and weeks roll by into months, Rita began to go back to her previous habits, which was not inline with her resolution . She ate junk food for the whole week, she bought lots of expensive hairs she also went on a luxury shopping, she'd scroll on social media for lots of hours without being productive.

It was then that Rita realized that making resolutions was the easy part but, keeping them was a very big challenge. She felt discouraged and frustrated, wondering if she had failed woefully once again.

One day, while out on a walk, Rita stumbled upon a small, big bookstore. She had never seen it before, and something about the beautiful shelf display drew her in. Inside, she found a treasure trove of self-help books, inspirational quotes, and motivational posters.

As she looked at the shelves filled with lots of books, Rita came across a book that caught her eye. It was called "The Power of Small Wins," and it promised to help readers achieve their goals by focusing on tiny, achievable steps rather than grand, sweeping changes.

Rita bought the book and read all of it in one sitting. The author's message sinked deeply with her, that it was the small, everyday choices that added up to big, lasting and changes. That it was okay to stumble, to make mistakes, and to start again.

With renewed energy and a fresh perspective, Rita returned to her resolutions. But this time she broke them down into smaller, manageable tasks, and was more focused on making progress one day at a time. She tried not to be perfect rather, she just tried to be better, a little bit each day.

As the month went by, she started making changes. Rita realised that she was making progress even though it was a gradual progress. She was exercising regularly, cooking healthy meals, and reading more than ever before. She had even started up a clothing brand for herself, this was something she never thought she'd be able to do.

Now the year has ended and it's another, New Year's Eve, as the clock struck midnight once again, Rita looked back on the past year with pride and a heart filled with gratitude. She had kept her resolutions, not because she was perfect, but because she had learned to be kind to herself, to focus on small wins, and to celebrate every step of the way.

This, Rita realized, was the true secret to keeping New Year's resolutions not to make grand promises, but to make small, everyday choices that added up to a life of purpose, joy, and fulfillment.

This has helped Rita to be a better version of herself, before the new year started running by, she made another resolution, but this time, she was confident, that she would meet up with her resolutions. She just wants to be better than the previous year.
