Attitude matters alot

It was a cool afternoon. My sister and I came back from school after trekking a mile. Getting home, we were both tired. We observed that there was no food at home, and we were both hungry.

Then we decided to rest and wait for our mother to come home from work. Due to the hunger strike, we both slept off.

After about two hours, I woke up and called my elder sister, Tayo.

She answered in a reluctant way that seemed to be very annoying. My mom was already at home, preparing us some food.

“Go and fetch me some water from the next compound”," she murmured and complained aloud. This got the attention of my mother, who wondered what was wrong with her.

Tayo seems to have an attractive beauty and intelligence. My parents love us so much that they do everything to please us.

My mom felt so bad about the attitude she displayed toward her.

When she came, my mom corrected her, but she nodded in agreement to turn a new leaf.

But one thing that amazes me is that Tayo doesn't see that as a naughty character that was annoying. She does feel that showing this attitude makes her express her feelings about what she does not like.

This attitude became a rapid behavior of my elder sister; my mom got so tired of correcting. With time, she became addicted to the habit of complaining when she was sent on an errand or hissing at her elders without being remorseful about it.

In school, most of the teachers complain about her character and punish her a lot, but still, her character just keeps getting worse day in and day out. It got to the point where she was meant to represent the school in a competition, but the principal stepped her down due to her character. She had displayed an unwanted character to her subject teachers during the training period.

Despite her intelligence and smartness, her bad character has made people look down on her.

As time went on, Tayo became an adult and got married. Then she had a child. My mom decided to spend some days with her and her family. This time, I was with her too.

One day, she called her son, and he answered, “Mummy, why are you calling me? Can't you see I'm having fun with my toys?" The little boy said it loudly and hissed at her mother, Tayo.

This got Tolani angry. She began to chase the boy, trying to correct him, but then we were just observing critically. We, on the other hand, kept quiet without uttering a little word.

As if that were all, we were just in our room when the boy ran to us. He began to say words that even an adult cannot say. Suddenly, the phone rang, and her mom picked up the call. She had known that it was her son's teacher who was calling. She placed the call on the speaker. From the other end, the boy's teacher said, “Your son is becoming rude to everyone in the school. He has been speaking badly of his teachers and even his classmates in the class. We were looking at building him, but he kept on worsening without wanting to change.

She replied, “Don't worry, I will talk to him, and it won't happen again, I promise.

Later, my mom told her, "Do you know that you just got the taste of your own medicine? How do you feel?

She smiled and said,

Mom, it's bitter and sour to me. Dami, my son, has given me a big headache with his character. I'm learning a big lesson.

She looked at my mom and said, I'm sorry for giving you a tough time. My childish attitude has nothing to say, but it was really bad. Tasting my own medicine now is making me remember my side when I was young too. I just hope my son will change for the better and never have the habit of resembling me.

Okay, sir

Her son Dami gave her a real taste of her own medicine. The truth remains our past actions can come back to affect us in unexpected ways.

Tayo's journey from showing a negative attitude to experiencing the consequences through her son's behavior is a clear reminder of the importance of self-reflection. Our behavior matters a lot and it's always good to heed to corrections when people start pointing out our wrongs.

Exactly, behavior matters a lot.

The boy must have copied some of the habit thinking it was good to behave that way. Tayo must have realized at that point that she caused mom a lot of trouble and I hope Dami turned a new leaf as well.

I really hope so too.

Bad characters are usually a stain to our personalities. And sometimes what we do to others still find a way back us. Nice write up dear.
