It's been 6 years after college and maybe the best 6 years of my life. Although I had to settle my bills but I enjoyed the freedom that came with it. I was working as supervisor for one of the biggest restaurants in town. It was of more fun to me than stress.
Wow, Annabelle Smith
Someone called my name and it wasn't a voice I was familiar with. Lifting my head was the fine young man casually dressed.
Ben Thomas, I screamed while getting up from my table and gave him a really tight hug.
We were really close friends throughout highschool and college.
'It's been ages since I saw you last, what are you doing here,' he asked.
'I work here as the supervisor,' I replied.
Wow, you guys are really doing a good job here,' he added while admiring the place.
I offered him a sit on my table while he ordered for meals.
'So what are you doing in town,?' I asked
'I'm working on a project here, so I'll be around for at least 3 months', he replied
We began talking on reminiscing on our old school days. He was the brilliant one and always helped out with my assignments. On the other hand I was one of the hot girls back then. It was quite strange that i was keeping a friend like Ben, he was shy, nerdy and maybe boring but we went way back and I don't ever forget my friends. I usually stood up for him against bullies and my influence made him respected. On the other hand, I got free tutorials from him which really helped my grades, he would simplify everything taught in class until I understood, he would lend me textbooks and always check up on me to ensure I was studying but I rather partied. Well, I don't know if it was just me but the Ben infront of me was more handsome and muscular maybe taller and was working with one of the biggest tech firms in the world.
I've missed you Annabelle, he said
You know back then I liked you so much, it was beyond a crush and when I saw you with the other guys especially that your drunk of a boyfriend, it hurt me terribly. I wouldn't eat for days because I know he didn't deserve you. He was only using you. I knew because I heard him telling his friends at the back of the library where they usually came to smoke, they didn't know I was reading there. I told you about that but you wouldn't believe me. The day I kissed, he said touching his lips, it wasn't a mistake as I claimed, the memories of those soft and warm lips kept coming back and you wouldn't talk to me because of that. I literally became a shadow of myself, I was tired of everything, nothing meant anything to me. I shouldn't have apologized but told you how and what I felt for you. It's no coincidence that I'm here, I came to see you Anna. In these 6 years, I have not been able to get you off my mind and this time I won't hesitate to tell you how I feel about you, he concluded while stretching his hands to touch mine.
This revelation weakened me as I couldn't believe my best friend kept all these away from me or was it that I was too busy to notice his emotions?
This was too much to wrap my head around but I was definitely going to give this Ben a shot. We exchanged cards and promised to meet up during the weekend. I had to return back to work as we parted goodbyes.
The End
