“After trying one more time, trust me, I will never shoot my shot again.” Like an athlete tired of loosing at events, Kunle was already getting frustrated.
He had tried his luck at dating many ladies and at different points in time but, they all end up rejecting him. He decided to unwind with a few of his friends.
“What has been the major problem my G?” Like a friend ready to get his buddy out of trouble, Tayo was looking out for his friend.
“You have always been lucky with girls, how do you do it?” Kunle asked.
“Well, if I tell you won’t believe me,” Tayo replied. “Try me,” Kunle said. “Well, I just give up on them.”
Like someone who had just heard a wrong statement, Kunle couldn’t believe what he just heard, he wanted to confirm he heard Tayo right.
“Ayo, did you hear what Tayo said, or I didn’t hear him right?” Ayo was also at the same table asides a few other friends of Kunle.
“You heard him right brother, just know that in order to get a lady you need to give up on her,” Ayo said. “If you don’t want to give up on a lady, you have to give up on her,” Tunde added.
“Even you, Tunde. You believe in this?” Like a man who just got a revelation, Kunle couldn’t hide his surprise at what his friends just told him.
“How does this work guys?” Kunle asked. “Because I know I can’t just ignore a lady and expect her to come my way,” Kunle added. “Now you are asking the right questions, Ade will fill you in on that, okay?” Tunde replied.
“I just can’t believe you guys know all these and didn’t carry me along all these whiles, that’s unfair, you know.” Kunle said.
“You never opened up to us but let’s put that right behind us.” Ade replied.
“You see, your constant efforts will be invested in not doing much, more like behind the scenes more than on the scene," Ade said.
"For example, if you see a lady you like, you’ll approach her and make contact, have an excellent conversation, give her attention and then you’ll withdraw,” He added.
Like an attentive student learning from his lecturer, Kunle was attentive to his friends.
“The next thing you want to do is to be present but not always available. So, she sees you almost everywhere, online, physically etc," Ayo explained.
"But you will always have something important to do, you’ll only have like a time out of ten to attend to her and this one time out of ten, make sure you give her butterflies” He added.
“I should probably get a note book to take these things down, right?” Kunle said as he smiled.
He had always wanted to know the secret behind getting a lady of her dreams and this seem to be the moment his life.
“What if any of these suggestions failed?” As Kunle ruminated on the question raised in his mind, he knew he wouldn’t want to face any other disappointment.
His approach had always been to never give up but this new approach his friends brought up sounds like a good idea.
“Guys, I don’t want to ever be disappointed again, are you sure your suggestions will work, there is this lady, you should all know Kemi. I think my relentless efforts and advances is gradually getting her attention, should I just ignore her or apply the same idea?”
As Kunle concluded his statement, Ayo slapped his hands on his head, like a disappointed teacher reacting to a dull student.
“Haven’t you heard of new chapters before? Leave that lady and try some fresh beauties man.” Kunle nodded in agreement but deep down he knew he wouldn’t let go of Kemi that easily.
After a few months of trying out his friends’ suggestions, Kunle was shocked at his results.
“Giving up in order to not give up, putting in the efforts behind the scene rather than in the face of the beauty.”
As he soliloquized in his room, he tried to make sense of the idea but he was left with more questions than answers.
The lady he approached at first seemed to be falling for the trick but later, the lady started doing exactly what he was doing to get her attention.
“She was available and running after me and all loving, seeking my attention but later she started getting scarce and was only available once in a while.” Kunle said as he narrated his experience to his friends over a conference call.
“Kemi came back at a time I never expected because I played the same trick on her, but it was subtle because I was more available than the ‘one in ten times’ idea. We are now together and it’s been 3 months,” Kunle said.
As his friends cheered and applauded his eventual success Kunle couldn’t quite decide whether his not giving up brought Kemi back or his friends’ suggestions but he is grateful to finally have a lady he had always loved.
