The night I would never forget! The night has always been tagged as a scary part of a day and this is because of so many atrocities that's believed to always take place in the night, most especially, in the middle of the night. Like the popular saying in my local language that says," evil is done in the night." Yes, that's the general belief about the night, there's another saying that says," the night has no respect for anyone." This is also true because no matter your status, the night has no respect for anyone. So, this would take me to one of the nights I would never forget in my entire life.
The night I would never forget. This night I'm talking about was a scary night for me. On this fateful day, I left home for a friend's place. This my friend kayode lived with his parent at the mission house of our church then, but the issue was that, his parent didn't like his friends to come visiting, most especially at night. But on this fateful day, I left my own place in the evening, planning to go and watch the champions league game between Arsenal and Barcelona at this my friend place, this said match was to start late in the night, I think around 9 in the night and I thought I would after the match pass a night secretly without his parent knowing in this my friend's room or betterstill, go into the church and sleep. So, this was my plan before I left home.

So, when I got to kayode's place at about past 7 in the evening, i went straight into his room without his parent knowledge, so we were planning to watch the match. Less i forget, the reason i went to watch the match in my friend's place was that, our electricity in my own area got spoilt and there's no way I could watch the match in my place and being an Arsenal fan, it's the match I must not miss. So, as I was saying, we were planning to watch the match with the pre-match analysis ongoing by the football analyst. So, after sometime, the match started at 9pm on the dot.so, we were both happy and excited about the match and after the first half of the match, my friend was like, Samson, I think you should be on your way coz it's getting late, but I was like don't worry, I will pass the night in the church which we both agreed. So, the second half started and unfortunately, my football lost the match to Barcelona fc with a 2 nil match. Though painful, I was not that bothered but bothered about where to lay my head.

Hmmm! So, after the match, the reality dawn on me on where to sleep as my friend's parent were aware that I was around and one thing about them was that, they will never bend their rule for anybody no matter whom you are. It's not that I'm a total stranger to this family ooo, but their rule is their rule.

So, after everything, I left the mission house and went straight into the church to lay my head which I did. But right there inside the church, I couldn't sleep and this was because I was the only one in the entire cathedral, not only that, everywhere was dark with mosquitoes biting hard. So, for this reason, I could not sleep tight. Another thing that happened to me was that I didn't have phone with me and no wrist watch with darkness everywhere.

Now, because of everything and without phone and wristwatch on me, I didn't really know what was it by the time. And one thing in my own area is that, if there's no wristwatch or phone to check time, we always rely on the cock to crow. So, remember there's no means to check for time on me. So, suddenly the cock crow, and I was like, it's not real for the first crow, the crow went out the second and the third time respectively and when I heard the third crow, I was happy within me it was dawn. So, I stood up, sneaked out of the church gate and left for my home.

Hmmm! It's when I was on my way home that I realized everywhere was still dark and there's nobody moving, talkless of vehicles blaring their horns. It was this time that the reality dawn on me, but I couldn't go back to the church I just left. The night was so scary to me and I was afraid of being killed, kidnapped or even demons attacking me. It was not a easy night for me. Seriously, it was a night of horror which I wouldn't want to remember again in my lifetime.

So, as I was walking through the streets on that fateful night, I was not comfortable, during my sojourn that night, I passed through so many scary places, but the one place that was so scary to me was the commentary. That place was another world entirely. Passing through the place was not easy. When I got to the center of the cemetery, I got feverish and was uncomfortable, but I have to put on courage to be able to pass through the place which I was able to do. So, all through the night, I was just roaming about scared till dawn. And through out the following day, I was just ruminating about I spent my scary night and I slept off. What a scary night?

Thanks for reading.

Even though you made a bad decision by overstaying in your friend's house and also leaving for your home very late at night you were unharmed. Football can make a man do some foolish things.

Your story is good even though there are several errors, grammatical and otherwise. Thanks for writing.

Thanks

That sounds scary. A night at the empty church and crossing the cemetery in darkness! Oh, I can't.

So you're among those that fear the dark night?🤣
I don't know why, I haven't felt scared of the night anytime. As long as I didn't hurt anybody, I believe my life is safe. 🤩

I wonder why people fear the dark sometimes because I don't know what's there to fear.

I don't really like darkness
