Nicely told, @jennyzee1. Readers can relate to a child having ambitions that are at odds with a parent's. Though, most parents are not as insistent and most children probably wouldn't go to the lengths you did to avoid studying an unpleasant course.

One thing that would improve the reader experience here is learning how it all worked out. True, you had to take another year, but did you become a surgeon or an artist? That really is what it was about, wasn't it?
