I Need Help

Do you ever feel overwhelmed? I often do and this is one of the bad parts of having poor organisation skills. I am bad at all organising. I can't organise my time, space, or thoughts. I can somehow still get through life but I'm pretty sure my wife is the main reason for that.

I think that I need to quit going to the dump for a while and get this shit sorted out. My friend who has been promising to get me some of the IBC containers was here yesterday and saw the state of the shop so he now understands the gravity of the situation. He has promised to get them this week. For those that don't know, they are the 1000 litre platic tanks in a steel frame on a steel pallet. I will just cut the tops out and then will be able to have a spot for things that take a long time to accumulate and sort, like circuit boards, aluminum and copper grades, etc.

This is also the first post in the newly formed Scrap and Salvage community. It is hive-172022 if anyone is interested, or you can click the Scrap and Salvage community tag above.

Could you link the url or the name of your community?

Hello, friend! Are you still at the cottage?

Thanks for the suggestion. The name is Scrap and Salvage and the link is the tag I believe but I also linked it to the community number as well because it took me a few minutes to learn you can click the tag. I am trying to figure out how you moderate the community and when I learn how to post as the community I will do an intro post on it.

Thanks for tuning me into them. What a groovy tune. It reminded me of this stuff.

You need about 3 joints and a quiet afternoon to clean that up

Hahaha, I am going to stick with the drinks. There are some great ones out there.

Yay! 🤗

Absolutely awesome job and I can't wait to see you have a full tote of circuit boards! Gold!!!!!!

Yeah man and that's awesome. Why not get set up to melt some of that copper and make castings.

Especially silver!!!!

Yeah man and what about the diy Community? Clean planet? This is awesome.

I joined. Here's a vote as well. Congratulations and excellent work. Actually really cool.

I can't wait to see more. Right on.

Hey thanks! I dig your enthusiasm.

I do plan on casting aluminum and copper down the road but will wait until winter so I can also heat that huge shop for free. It will give me a chance to warm it up to do some scrapping and make some cool souvenirs. I want to make stuff we can sell at our local museum/gift shop.

I tried clean planet but they seem more involved in just picking up trash than what I'm doing. EcoTrain was good but Alex left a while ago.

You, for sure, need a way to organise. Using IBCs for different items sounds like a good plan. You also need a big bench in the middle to disassemble stuff. Have several trays which you fill and then dump into the IBCs.
That looks like an amazing space you have when I look through all the clutter I see amazing potential. Keep scrapping, you never know what you might find.

Oh yeah, what I forgot to mention is that I have to take the floor out of there because it's sloped, as this was an old movie theatre from the 60s.

I agree with you though and hadn't thought of the central processing station. That makes a lot of sense as a one-sided work bench on the wall doesn't give enough work space.

Thanks for stopping by, old buddy. I am always happy to see you.
