ColetivoXV and Gnars Unite for Meier Skatepark Revitalization Project and Launch Event
Great news, everyone! ColetivoXV and Gnars have joined forces not only to propose the much-needed renovation of Meier Skatepark but also to organize an exciting launch event. We have not one, but two amazing initiatives in store for the skateboarding community and art enthusiasts alike!
Firstly, we're thrilled to announce the Meier Skatepark Revitalization Project. This comprehensive endeavor aims to transform the skatepark into a state-of-the-art facility, providing skaters with an enhanced and exhilarating experience. From upgrading the miniramp to breathing new life into the graffiti art surrounding the area, we're committed to making this space truly exceptional.
But that's not all! We're also planning a spectacular launch event to celebrate the grand reopening of Meier Skatepark. This event will bring together skaters, artists, and the local community for a day filled with skateboarding demos, live music, food trucks, and much more. It's a fantastic opportunity to showcase the vibrant culture that thrives within our community.

TLDR
Event of inauguration of the new phase of Meier ramp along with Gnarsversary celebration
ColetivoXV, in collaboration with two other groups, has just unveiled a proposal for the renovation of this iconic ramp.
The proposal above is about the actual renew of the ramp, this matching proposal is about creating the Opening event for this epic community action.
We're really hopeful that our proposal gets approved so we can kickstart a new phase in the ramp's development. Our main goal is to rebuild the entire ramp. Either way, we're committed to cleaning and painting the ramp for the upcoming event to show that the fight for this place continues. We hope both proposals pass, but whatever the outcome, the community's efforts have already made a big impact.
Plan | Description |
---|---|
Plan A - Both Props. pass | Rebuild the ramp and have the event with funds and Gnars partnership. |
Plan B -Just 1st prop pass | Obtain funding for the ramp without organizing the event. |
Plan C - Only prop.house pass | Host the event and use it as a crowdfunding opportunity for the ramp renovation. |
Plan D - nothing pass | Go all out and carry out all aspects of the project regardless of the outcome of the other plans. |
The event is all about celebrating the start of a new chapter in this iconic place's history, as proposed by LINK. We're bringing together the OG skaters who've been here since the beginning, along with the new generation and the local culture. It's going to boost the area, which used to be a spot for all kinds of events where families hung out and had a good time.
Oh, and we're organizing a Best Trick competition on the skate ramp during the event. It's gonna be epic, showcasing the skills and creativity of the skaters. And we'll also be playing videos that highlight the square's history and Gnars' journey throughout the event.
And guess what? We're throwing in some "roda cultura" action too, with MC battles and the best hip-hop music. Plus, it's also gonna be a celebration of another year of Gnarsversary, so you don't want to miss out on that.
But here's the thing, we really need to bring this space back to life. It's currently neglected by the authorities, making it a dangerous and unwelcoming place. Let's make it happen together!

Meier Skatepark History
Meiers local miniramp has been around since 1997 and has been the nest of the true underground scene of Rio de Janeiro skateboard.
Current state of the ramp
RIO - Two months ago, administrative agent Ana Paula Santos sadly witnesses the degradation of the Skate Park in Méier. The favorite spot for skaters - who used to have fun on the ramp, a landmark in the northern zone of Rio - has now become home to homeless people and stage suspicious activities. The park's playground equipment has been turned into support for an improvised tent made of a cloth, as shown in the photo sent to Eu-Repórter. Accustomed to radical maneuvers, the skate park has become a clothesline.
It started with litter, but now there are nearly ten people living in the park. Minors go there to consume crack. The children who attend a nearby school, who used to take a shortcut through the park, now have to go around it. It has become extremely dangerous. Skaters even tried to revitalize it. One resident painted the skate park, but...
GLOBO (MAJOR NEWSMEDIA)
Location
We are going to rename the plaza after a beloved skateboard local hero Jadson Brian
The local community wishs to refurbish and renew the whole venue in honor to the memory of the local skater Jadson Brian for sometime now, and this is the perfect opportunity to make this dream come tru;
"In addition to being a great reference in skateboarding, Jadson was also greatly loved at NES (Skateboard School Center), where he worked as a teacher for over 15 uninterrupted years. He brought the true love and spirit of skateboarding to a legion of children, teenagers, and adults in his fun and popular skateboarding classes. Children consider him an idol and a friend, as do all the parents and participants of the project.
JB was responsible for the development of great names in skateboarding in Rio de Janeiro, both within the school and beyond. He worked as a coach alongside promising talents from the base categories of skateboarding in Rio de Janeiro."

Every Wednesday, the square hosts the Meier Rap Battle, an energetic event that celebrates local Rap/Hip-Hop culture. This dynamic gathering has nurtured influential artists through thrilling rap battles. Allan "Marola," a dedicated regular at the square during its peak in the late 90s and early 2000s, both organizes and is a friend to local skaters.
The Meier Rap Battle and the Méier Ramp Movement (MRM) along with coletivo XV join forces to improve the space, uniting the realms of Hip-Hop and skateboarding. As part of their initiative, they are even planning to construct a skatable stage, aiming to further empower the scene.
