G'day hive,
So the Blade Battle number 6 went down on Saturday and WOW what an awesome event this was!! Here are some pictures from the comp.
Rollerbladers from every state in Australia came together in Fairfield Brisbane to meet up and Battle it out on the skatepark for a prize pool of $2000 cash, trophies and prizes!!
Including the VC Best trick trophy 🏆
Now rollerblading is a relatively small community in Australia so it's always a great day catching up with old friends and new from all over Aus.
The day started with under 18 our next generation of our sport, and it's great to see these kids progressing so fast!
The OG's (original gangster) competition is for skaters over 30. This is always such a great part of the comp to watch all the old school skaters Battle it out. All with years of practice, style and trick vocabulary on display.
The results for the OG's are as follows
OG
1st Levi Hicks
2nd Damian Iturra
3rd Mitch Macrae
Now the real Battle starts... The opens!
This category is for everyone that is a sponsored skater or someone that wants to take on the big guys with the perfect line of tricks through the park.
The competition has heats of 5 people with 1 run each until they fall or give up. Then a 5 min jam session followed by last trick per person each round.
The judges then round up the scores and 5 people make their way into the finals.
The judges score the comp on difficulty, consistency and style.
The finals are always my high light of the day. The guys put everything on the line and try all their biggest and hardest tricks.
In the end the results are as follows
Opens
1st Dan Robinson
2nd Martin Gade
3rd Sam Bradley
The VC best trick
Adam Davidson
Hurricane negative mizou with revert out.
I didn't get a photo of this trick but I did film it. So stay tuned for the edit.
Hellman Award is a trophy for the person who skates the hardest and battles with themselves in the park all day.
This year it went to.
Matt Caratelli
Thanks for stopping by and stay tuned for the edit🤘🤘
