It's dark in here. I'm inside the basement that has probably been abandoned by its former owners. It stinks of damp clothes and rust. I rethink the incidents that brought me here. They're vague, blurry, and echoes.
I struggle to remember. Her voice- soft and smooth. I can trace the edges like a frame. "Kevin" I hear her say. I can't differentiate between my imagination and reality. It seems like she's here, and not here.
"Hello." I manage to say. It came out like a dying whisper. "Is anyone here?" I ask with my voice a bit firm. I was answered back with my own echo.
Trembling, I get up and try to walk towards... "Bumpp.." I bump my head in a wall. I hold my head with my hands and scream in pain. I see flashbacks of her face. Her smooth plump skin. The little freckles that dotted her nose. Her innocent golden brown eyes. The sun brown long hair that matches her eyes.
"Kevinnn." I hear her voice. In my imagination. No. In reality. I open and close my eyes immediately. Sharp pain throb my head, but just in time to see the white dress flicker across.
"What...? Who... Who's that?" I ask with a voice I can't recognise as mine.
Silence. More heavy silence. Something crossed by the left. I followed the movement. Dead end. Only a mouse.
I heavied a relief. I try to find the door with my hand.
"Enough of all the intense drama!" I just had to scream. Am I dreaming or am I awake? I walked slowly with my leg kicking against the air till I could kick the wall. "Bump.." That was a hard kick at the wall. I turned my back against the wall and slipped my back slowly till I landed to sit on the floor.
Didn't I just wake up? So why am I swallowed by darkness?
Water rippling from a distance. But where could it come from? This space felt like a big hall meant for a dinner night so where is water coming from?
"Enough Kelvin!" Amanda was tired of listening to my weird and confusing dream. I tried my best to get her to listen but all to no avail. Immediately, all crickets and noisy animals ceased operation. We were both terrified, I could hear my heart race faster than sprint race athletes. Our conversations were even more scary. Before she could respond to me, my voice had to echo more than ten times. This was too gothic because I was now confused if I was awake or asleep.
Gradually, our voices reduced to zero decibels and our mouths shut. I tried all I could but my lips won't just open.
I tried reaching out to Amanda but she was nowhere. I kept stretching my hands if I could touch Amanda somehow. The next thing I felt was a mighty push from behind and I landed on the floor on my face.
"Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you...!" Wait, don't tell me I had this nightmare a night to my birthday
Somebody say ruined!
Poppers making heavy pop sounds all through the room. Glitters raining on me while I kept blushing because I don't know what to do when a crowd of friends keep singing "happy birthday to you" repeatedly. Won't you all end your rendition already. Lights all round the room begin to flicker. I was now more confused if I was celebrating my birthday in my dream or not. I kept staring at the switch to know where it was positioned in the room. I stared intensely while looking at the steps I'd take to reach there, calculating what I'd have to jump over if at all the light goes off.
"Kpaa!!" The bulbs blew off and immediately I jumped out of my bed to reach out for the switch and I turned it on. Yes! I escaped the whole dream puzzle!
So it was some confusing puzzle I had to solve in order to wake up? Wowww
