Who would not want to be successful in their life, I guess everyone want to be successful, no matter what they're doing, achieving a goal is one of the things that they want to get in their life.
But what do they need to get it?
It needs a sacrifice, a lot of sacrifice sometimes. And that is what differentiates a successful one from the rest.
Let's say, both of you are from the same start but took a different approach to reach the successful state, then the result will be different. If one just takes it easy, wakes up in the morning, does the bare minimum, and doesn't want to improve themselves, compared to the other one who wants to take a few steps further. Do things with the best that he can, try to improve himself every day, and learn new things, maybe it will get to the goal a little faster.
Sacrificing maybe some of his time and his personal life to be the best version of himself so that he can reach the success that he wants. Without those sacrifices, one will be stuck in one place, and maybe it will be harder for him to reach the goal, or even will never reach the goal that he wants.
