What then is love?

It is funny how people tend to abuse the word "Love" because to different people, it means different things and this has caused havoc in the hearts of many people. I ask, what then is love? If everyone has different opinions, definitions, and interpretations of love, what then is love?

Because everyone with his or her definition of"Love" daily we see scary and terrible things, we read terrible and disheartening stories, listen to television, podcasts, radio, and audio, and get sick or feel like puking because of the heart-wrenching voices we hear and this scares people, this stories from people, this experiences, this hearsay, put people in disarray, fear and confusion because they are beginning to doubt too many things. The worst part is, that the stories and experiences always come to an abrupt end with words like "I do love her/him", " I love him/her", and "She/he is my world" but then is love supposed to be this harsh?

Love is meant to be patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. If love is all these which is the genuine meaning of love, why then do people who we say we love get hurt, broken, and in pain because of us, why do people who say they love us, hurt us, break us, and give us pain?

Many people with their own definition of love, and many people with their own interpretation of love and this leads to the true meaning of love watering down as a result of different opinions, different definitions, and different interpretations of love. We now have different definitions because nobody wants to be caught in the web of these shenanigans we play as love. Some people today, don't believe that love exists because of the hurt they've gone through at the hands of those who professed their love to them, and they too to the person.
