It's a beautiful Sunday, friends! How did the weekend go? Definitely, I know it was a productive one and I hope the preceding week will be a beautiful one. Before I go further, we can all agree that money answers all things, or does it? Well, I would love to add that relationships are another form of currency as well.
In my understanding, relationships are a form of connection we share with people. However, there are different kinds of relationships, one thing that is common in every relationship should be a bond. Relationships can be social, personal, professional, formal, emotional, etc. It is important and we should understand that if one wants a relationship to last it must be maintained; it should be characterized by trust, tolerance, and constant communication, and most importantly both parties must share similar or aligning goals, visions, and values.

Relationships are a currency in today's world, one could easily get things done or sorted out because they have a good relationship with someone. It is often said no man is an island, relationships are encouraged for us as social beings, the truth is that we cannot escape being in one relationship or the other we could either be in a family relationship, work relationship, emotional relationship, formal or informal relationships (where you could say someone is just an acquaintance).
Here is the matter: It's not just about having a relationship, it's about having a good one.
You could be in a relationship with someone or a group of persons but your goals, visions, and values do not align and purpose cannot be achieved. We're all on a journey of purpose and we need the right people in our lives as much as possible.
There are several benefits of having or being in a good relationship:
Good relationships enhance growth, it encourage improvement in oneself, being with people most times brings out the best in us because in a relationship you have to combine your strengths with that of another to make things work; you eventually realize that there are things you can do when you have a good relationship with a person or a group of people. Another thing, good relationships spark creativity and innovation and show the effectiveness of teamwork.
Good relationships help us have a sense of belonging I wrote earlier - "No man is an island." As a human being when you're in a good relationship with a person or a group of people you feel valued, validated, and connected to the people you're in a relationship with and it's easier to achieve purpose.
Good relationships can pave the way for people. Most times you can easily get what other people struggle to get because you know you are directly connected to someone and have a good relationship with the person. As much as we are in one relationship or the other we must understand that for a relationship to work, there must be healthy boundaries.
We must be ready to be flexible because in a relationship there are different entities and personalities and we must be ready to compromise or rather tolerate and be patient with people and be prepared to adapt to certain behavioral patterns of the people we are in relationships with, it is important to note that one shouldn't tolerate an abusive relationship.
Building good relationships with people can even go as far as favoring our children or people around us. Before you consider being part of a good relationship, be a good person yourself, "Charity begins at home." Building good relationships goes a long way, be a better person today, and move with the right people.
