GAZ 16 Hovercraft
Is a small series of prototype Soviet/USSR crafts, created by engineers at the Gorky Automobile Plant in the early 60’s.
Built based upon a conventional automobile chassis, powered by a 5.5litre V8 (195hp) engine from a GAZ-13. For off-road use, the chassis would be hydraulically lifted and two fans providing air underneath to provide lift.
A number of prototypes (3) were potentially created with one (16B) powered by a gas-turbine (390hp) helicopter engine and one (16A) with two additional 28hp motorcycle engines.
The development was hampered by attempting to combine both wheeled and hovercraft technology into a complex design.
