Sometimes, it seems difficult to engage in self-care as we are all bound with so many responsibilities that we need to handle in our day-to-day live. Here are some tips for making time for self-care:
Schedule it in: Like any ordinary appointment or obligation make it a point to set a self-care appointment every now and then. Dedicate daily or weekly, whatever frequency you want, for some activities for your self-care.
Keep it simple: Self care does not necessarily require a lot of time as an individual can dedicate as little as fifteen minutes of his or her day to such exercise. Even the simplest activities you can perform are also considered self-care activities they are for example going for a walk, reading a book or even listening to music.
Multi-task: Cope for you to try and look for a way to do something that will also involve practicing the act of self care. For example one can listen to a pod cast while taking a bath or practice meditation at office lunch hour.
Take advantage of small moments: It means that in any given day, you can set a few minutes to attend to yourself in order to get what you are in need of. In case you are on a queue you can attempt to do some breathing exercises, if you are taking a break at work then you can try some stretching exercise or simply remain idle for a few moments without exposing your brain to anything.
Prioritize self-care: Treat self-care as you have the full time job in doing it or that which is most crucial that you have to do. Do your best to recall that you mustn’t forget about yourself and your health, and it should be your top priority.
Be intentional: One should practice self-care, but one should not perform self-care recklessly. It involves focusing on what is current to the highest level of one’s capacity without complicating it with other things. To take care of oneself is to ensure you set time aside from your busy schedules to nurture your body as well as your spirit so that you can be in a position to work harder in the tasks you are assigned.
