Happy new weeks dear friends. I am happy to share thoughts with you on this new week. With just two days to my birthday, I reflect on the events that surrounded my life in the last 10 days and this inspires me to write this piece I title "When Life Doesn't Go as Planned".
We all have plans and expectations from our daily thoughts, actions and inactions. We often map out our lives with clear goals and dreams, hoping to walk a smooth, straight path. But as we journey, we encounter unexpected turns, roadblocks, and detours. However, many times, life surprises us in that some delightful events and others that knock us off our feet. It is in these moments, when life doesn’t go as planned, that our true character is tested.
The last 10 days was a surprise for me as a person. Many of ,y plans got knocked off the track. While I'll love to keep some o these events very private, I can't hide some that affected my engagement here on Hive after starting the very interesting journey of threading and creating daily #askleo threadcasts on INLEO with the help of Sir @taskmaster4450le. However, I'm happy to up again on my feet at least before my birthday to get active in this space again.
The turn of events in the last few days has taught me patience, hope and helped me develop the right character to manage anxiety and wait for expectations to be fulfilled. It was again about my device, health and the push to grow in life. In all, no regrets. We learn and move forward.
On a general sense, our plans may unravel for countless reasons such as missed opportunity, a relationship that didn’t work out, a sudden illness, or even the loss of a loved one. These events can leave us feeling disoriented, questioning our purpose and direction. The disappointment is real, and it’s okay to feel it deeply. But while it’s natural to mourn what didn’t go according to plan, it’s also essential to remember that life’s deviations often lead to unforeseen blessings.
What do you do when life doesn't go as planned?
When life veers off course, it is an opportunity to pause and re-evaluate. It is a time to ask lots of questions like "What was the purpose behind our original plan? What truly matters to us?" and even more. Sometimes, our plans are rooted in expectations placed upon us by others, society, or even our past selves. Life’s twists and turns can free us from these expectations, nudging us toward what genuinely have a re-think of our values and passions.
In these moments of uncertainty, faith and resilience should become our greatest allies. Trusting that there’s a greater plan at work, even when we can’t see it, helps us to meander through the fog of confusion. It is a time to build resilience that allows us to adapt, to find new paths, and to grow in ways we never imagined. It is in the process of adapting and finding new directions that we often discover our true potentials.
Sometimes, we may harbour the feeling of losing control when life does not going as planned. We like to believe we’re in the driver’s seat, but life has a way of reminding us that we are not always in charge. It is important to learn to surrender to this reality is not about giving up; it is about releasing the need to control every outcome and trusting the journey.
Sometimes, the detours we face may teach us lessons we couldn’t have learned otherwise and shape us into more compassionate, wise, and humble individuals.
When life doesn’t go as planned, it’s crucial to remember that setbacks are not the end of the road. They are just a part of the journey. We should learn to accept the unexpected, allow ourselves to grieve what was lost, but also open our heart to the new possibilities that lie ahead. Life’s unpredictability, though daunting, is also what makes it beautiful and full of potential.
Think of these things and tell me what you think too.
