Greetings, my friends!
I have had this deep thought in my heart since yesterday and I tried to get answers to my question. Crises are alarming in Nigeria every day. No single day will pass that something will not happen in our world, there must be flaunting news of killing, abduction, fire explosion, stabbing, and fight against the other party and the rest of the unnecessary issues that could be sorted out amicably and then move on but it is not so.
Our world needs prayer. I just realized that a lot of people know God; they call him often, but their actions and character don't portray or reflect Christlike character that would draw others to the sheepfold. It was disgusting seeing and hearing the news of the killing and other acts that were not pleasing to the ears. A mother would not beat her child in love or in a way of correcting her but she would beat as if the child were an animal. It's not encouraging at all.
While I was contemplating the causes of crises in the world. This morning, I opened my devotional to read and I got the answer from there. A simple, straightforward answer is distraction. It could be one word that causes crises in our world and this distraction is walking with us to cause problems in the world. Humans are the cause of distraction and it's the reason we face challenges every day.
Our society is full of distractions, from social media, family, friends, and other means. Distractions are demonic characteristics that stop or delay one from reaching their destination; they include anger, greed, pride, lust, the wrong relationship, dubiousness, lasciviousness, and many more, and are a distraction that hinders a man from going forward in life.
For instance, anger in a relationship can cause a man to stab his wife to death. If you do not know how to manage your anger, you will kill a lot of people. We have heard the recent trending news on our social media handle, how a gospel singer beheaded his female friend. It was anger that led him to do that. If we can manage our anger and greed and avoid being in a relationship where love doesn't exist, we will be endangered. We have to be careful, to make it in life and reach our destination made for us by God by avoiding unnecessary distractions.
If you look into the scripture, you will learn of different characters who were distracted, and because of this, they didn't reach the promised land that God kept for them. Some of them died because of distraction and some couldn't fulfill their purpose. Bible characters like Samson, who was distracted by the wrong relationship; Moses, distracted by anger; and King Uzziah, who was distracted by pride.
All the violence we have seen and heard occurred in the Bible, and that's why we still see and experience it. Anyways, we are in the Adamic nature, everything has fallen apart. We just need God and His influence over our lives. When God is in you genuinely, you will be guided and know the things we should do at the right time for the sake of the kingdom.
