Hi friends, i have been follow the sessions of events around the TikTok Ban in the United States of America and I wanted to share my opinions on it.

Of course this is my personal view about it and I'm totally ok if you disagree.

I am against the recent decision taken by the US Senate to pass a bill that may result in a ban of TikTok.

Despite national security and privacy concerns, I believe that prohibiting TikTok is not the answer.

TikTok has grown so much in popularity with millions of users flocking the site building connected community.

It has been a place where people have been given an opportunity to create, express themselves, and bond especially during hard times experienced recently.

By banning TikTok, it would mean that millions of individuals will be without places for entertainment and connections while at the same time destroying small businesses that depend on it for marketing and sales purposes.

The main reason why TikTok should be banned is its ownership by ByteDance, a Chinese company.

There are concerns that millions of American user’s data could be shared with the Chinese government thus posing serious national security risk. Nonetheless, I believe there are other means the situation can be dealt with without resorting to banning.

For instance, the United States might place more stringent measures on TikTok so as to ensure that user data is secure and not exposed to foreign governments. This would enable TikTok carry on in America even as it addresses issues related to national security and personal privacy.

Secondly, prohibiting TikTok bans would establish a harmful example of internet freedom and censorship.

This action then shows that countries such as America are willing to censor anything online because of political activities or insecurity in the state.

Hence, the world may experience a widespread form of internet control thereby compromising on basic principles of free speech together with democracy.

Moreover, banning TikTok is not necessarily going to stop China’s government access to American users’ personal data.

The information could still be accessed by other means from any foreign government as well as other platforms which are also prone to hacking compared to Tik Tok.

I know that many people are worried about national security and the invasion of privacy, but I don’t think that TikTok should be prohibited.

Instead, we need to work on ensuring that TikTok is more closely regulated to safeguard user data while still having it operational in America.

This would go a long way in ensuring that national security as well as personal privacy is maintained while also upholding internet freedom and democracy.

Sort:

I've never been there but the way you've described it is as though none of the other ones count.

Oh no friend they actually do count, but the point I'm trying to make is that it didn't have to be this way...

Do you notice that the American people don't want TikTok to be banned but the American government does?

That was satire.

To answer your question, I did not. But I am aware it's not my best interest they're concerned about.

Indeed Good friend, apologies if I offended in anyway 🥰

Not offended in the slightest. Cheers.

Cheers mate 🥂🍻
