Can we talk about how they finally gave LA Knight a live microphone? Freaking finally, right? If you have read my blog about the match card, you'd know that's what I was looking forward to. This guy has charisma oozing from every pore; give me some prime-time entertainment. And they barely let him speak yet! What a bloody tease!
Now, don't get me wrong: I do believe in the notion of building anticipation, but come on! If you've got a star such as Knight, you allow him to shine. You do not put a race car driver in a Ferrari and then tell him to stay in the parking lot. Missed opportunity? I do think so.
But you know what they say: the show must go on, and oh boy, did it ever!
In walks Carmelo Hayes, like he owns the building. Now, I gotta give it to Hayes, the man's got balls. He's out there campaigning for a United States championship match like he's running for office.
You gotta admire that hustle!
It doesn't get any spicier than this, in comes Andrade. Now, this is where things start to get very interesting: Andrade isn't letting Hayes off the hook just yet, and he's making sure everybody knows it. It's like watching two kids fight over the last cookie in the jar, except the cookie is a shot at the US title.
I was waiting to see how this three-way standoff would go down. And then, BAM! LA Knight reminds everybody why he is the man to watch.
That Blunt Force Trauma? Put it into a poetic motion.
Knight laid out Hayes and Andrade like he was swatting flies right there. It's one of those instances where indeed, actions are louder than words, and boy, did Knight's tell volumes!
Now, I gotta say, as cool as the segment was, it feels like I got a little ripped off. I mean, LA Knight with a live mic is Christmas morning for wrestling fans. We came for a five-course meal and got appetizers. Delicious appetizers, mind you, but appetizers nonetheless!
