I haven't been into LEGO for a long time, but recently I am finding myself enjoying it more and more, since my five year old son sort of got obsessed with the Super Mario series. And of course, I now take every little opportunity to expand his collection.
I've picked up this small LEGO set on the supermarket a couple of days ago and I am amazed on how great it is for the price. It costed only EUR 3.99.
In case you are not familiar with it, the LEGO Creator series is basically three models in one. There's the official model, to which the instructions come with the packaging, and then there are at least two alternative models you can download through LEGO's website.
This particular set features a Tropical Parrot as the main model. It's a really attractive and colourful model that looks really good as a display, but it has a really nice addition with the articulation of the wings, tail and head which makes it really great for hours of play.
The alternative models are not as complete as the main one, and they seem to instead serve two separate functions, more or less.
First, there's the Tropical Fish. It's a nice model, but it feels this one is more intended to be displayed and it doesn't bring nearly enough articulation as the Parrot, which makes it feel more like a static element to be used as part of a scenery.
The last model is a sort of Butterfly, but not really sure. The thing about this one is it's extremely articulated and therefore you can easily shift shapes and make it resemble either a butterfly or a sort of ancient mask, or even another fish. Tons of creative play possible on this one.
Final Thoughts
I highly recommend picking this one up if you are into LEGO. It's extremely cheap for all the features it has, for only Euro 3.99. It also has a nice parts per Euro ratio, even if just for the fact a good handful of those parts are special elements that allow for articulation. I'll rate it a 9/10 for the price.
