Lately I've made some digital art and a wall painting, and all of it started because of traditional art, specifically portraits. So I went to the portraits, as a friend of mine requested me to draw a potrait of his friend. portrait making is a challenging task, that everytime I take a potrait work I get strong feeling of "I'll definitely not gonna do well" . I feel like there is 70% chance of messing it up.
This was the reference picture, he told me to make the girl without braces and colours on the cheek. I started with grid and basic outlines.
Its size is 14*24 cm.
First the eyes as always as it makes the drawing comes to life. Also getting the eyes right is the hardest part for me. As you can see here the girl looks like she is looking in the right direction instead of looking in the camera. I tried to correct it but it just didn't work so I proceeded with the rest.
Other features, one this about nose is that it does not have a boundary it's just shadow and light that gives it a 3D look and there is always a shine at the tip of the nose which looks a bit weird when you draw it. Also, the side of the nose have depth which again is hard to get.
Hairsss, favourite part after the eyes ofcourse. used some kneaded eraser and mono zero eraser. but it was mostly dark so just made the most of the hair with 10b graphite pencil.
final result!
jewellary and some work on the shine on the hair. I really the shine on the hair. Made the background tinted type. You can See I again tried to make changes in the eye ball but again girls just won't look at me, not even in drawings 😄🙁.
He is going to gift this to her today, So I hope she likes it. I almost did what I could in tight deadline and mid semester approaching.
Hope you guys like it, came back to portrait after a long time.
