Good morning everyone,

I'm thrilled to be here today, sharing my latest painting with all of you. I've been away for some time, dedicating myself to my craft and working hard to refine my skills. During this period, I decided to embark on a new journey creating a series of paintings that explore my Yoruba heritage. Through this series, I aim to shed light on the beauty of my culture and the richness of my tribe. I'm kicking off the series with a focus on interpreting names, using my art to tell these stories.

The first name I decided to explore is AINA. The literal meaning of the name is "The one who must not be beaten". The name is usually given to a female child born with umbilical cord around her neck. It's a beautiful name that describes how the particular child come to this earth.

I used a mixed media method to bring this painting to life through the combination of ankara fabric and oil painting. The fabric signifies the umbilical cord. The combination of both the fabric and the painting gave birth to this Masterpiece.
