Hello everyone, I painted this woman in red on Sunday. I woke up early because I had to go to church by 2pm and I knew that once I'd start I'd be lost for hours in my creative space, so I needed to take that into consideration.
I painted this in sketchbook pro and the total time spent was about 4 hours or more :)
For a long time I've wanted to paint glossy skin and I think I was able to reach this goal with this portrait. I also wanted a more curvy woman as a model and after looking at some photos on pinterest, I got inspiration for mine. I also decided to work with the airbrush tool instead of sculpting with my artist pencil or frayed brush just for a change.
So I spent some time layering and undoing a lot of my work. Everyone knows undoing is the bulk of your work as a digital artist because there's just so many ways you could paint something. When everything was done with the airbrush tool, I decided to use the inking pen to create more definition. I painted with this tool on a new layer set to multiply and reduced the opacity. This gave my painting this glossy finish.
I love this one a lot because it's very realistic. I've started at it so many times since Sunday and I'm impressed with how far I've come.
A little snippet of the song by Chris de Burgh
'The lady in red is dancing with me, cheek to cheek,
There's nobody here, it's just you and me,
It's where I want to be,
But I hardly know this beauty by my side,
I'll never forget the way you look tonight;'
Thanks for stopping by!
