Hi everyone, today, I would love to share with you one of my commissioned works.
On this fateful day, a friend asked me to create a drawing for him to present to his client on her birthday. As custom demands, I requested for a reference picture and he provided a somewhat blurry picture. In the bid of me wanting to help in creating a beautiful piece for this dear one, I requested for another picture with a better quality but he couldn't get any leaving me with no option but to work with the blurry image.
Working on this piece wasn't quite easy but I learnt so many lessons from it. It demanded more patience from me, getting me into looking in-depth for details, spending extra time on many parts of the drawing, and even led to sleepless nights to meet the deadline. In addition, my Samsung phone screen broke during the process, almost causing me to abandon the entire work. However, with perseverance and by the grace of God, I managed to overcome the obstacles, and here we are 😊
In and through all, I am excited about the outcome because it depicts a mother's love for her child and as a lover of babies I would love to create more artworks showing a mother and her child.
As I have a glimpse of this beautiful piece, the timeless verses by "Ann Taylor" resonate in my thought...
..."Who sat and watched my infant head,
When sleeping on my cradle bed,
And tears of sweet affection shed?
My Mother."
Oh, the mother's affection,
The sincere devotion,
The endless and selfless giving,
The complete and unrestrained love,
The sacrificial and unwavering devotion,
Such steadfast love a mother bestows upon her child.
For this beautiful piece, I used Charcoal and Graphite pencils on pelican paper.
