Hello y'all, hope you had a great Sunday, anyways, I had a dope Sunday
My smile is as wide as my Muse's smile😅
I'd like to share my new art with you, my friend was my muse. I found this picture of him smiling and I could already imagine how it'd be if I drew it, the smile of a black person is really beautiful.
I felt so captivated by the picture that I considered doing more drawings of black people smiling, there's something about the vibrance that I can't put into words but let me just take you through the details of the drawing.
Title: Black with a Bright smile
Size: 14 * 16
Materials: graphite pencils ( 4b, 6b, 8b, 12b) for the skin
Charcoal pencil for hair and background, kneaded eraser for highlights.
Duration: 10 hrs
Below are my work in progress pics
I usually start with an accurate sketch of my reference, with the aid of grid drawing maker I apply grid lines to the picture to aid accuracy. I'll share more on the app in a later post, just leave a comment if you need me to drop it soon.
My techniques are scribbling, cross hatching and hatching.
I scribble mostly when I'm working on the hair, after creating a layer with graphite powder, I make scribble marks with the charcoal pencil. Gives it some realistic look
I cross hatch and hatch on the skin, it depends on my rhythm and the texture and values I have to replicate on the surface, sometimes I scribble on the skin to create details.
Last pic, I'm really proud of this piece, it gave me the idea to work on a collection of art pieces that point at this particular topic, I hope I can make it happen.
That'll be all for now, thanks for checking my art out, hope you like what you see. Tell me what you think in the comments.
