MY HIVE INTRODUCTION POST

in #hive-1745782 years ago

My name is Barry Jennifer Lesi, I'm 19 years old, fair in completion and of average height. I hail from Khana local government area, River's state, the south south region of Nigeria in west Africa. I was born and brought up in Rumuokwurusi Obiakpor local government area in Rivers state Nigeria. I've spent all my life as long as I can remember in this same place exempting the fact that I went for holidays to Aba , a very busy city in Abia state Nigeria .

I come from a Christian home of five comprising of my Mum, Dad, my Brother, Sister and I. We are members of Salvation Ministries church the home of success with the residing pastor David Ibiyeomie. We all reside in Port Harcourt city, Rivers state. I am the first child of my family and the First daughter. My dad works as a cook in a company in port Harcourt, my mum is a trader who deals with cloths, my immediate younger sibling who is my sister known as Jessica is also a student of the university of Port Harcourt in the department of Bio chemistry and a 100 level student. My younger brother by name Destiny who is the last child of the family is still in secondary school SS1 precisely.

I'm not really the kind of child that was allowed to go out more often and this was because of my mum. She is more of the normal Nigerian strict parent who never finds it hard to discipline and correct you. But life wasn't so boring as it may sound because I always had toys available and we had the television to watch cartoons always. Some friends also visited me though but mainly girls where allowed to visit me at home.

I attended my Nursery section in a place in Port Harcourt called pipeline In a school called Brainy child. I wanted to continue my education in brainy child school but the fees was too much and my mum couldn't pay the fees anymore coz that was the time my dad left so, I had to switch to a quite cheaper school. I attended my primary school in Rumuokwurusi, Port Harcourt city, Rivers state in a school called Global academy.

I wasn't quite the brainy student in primary school but I wasn't dumb as well. I had fun In primary school due to the fact that most of my classmates lived around my home so sometimes, I visit and we have fun together. My secondary school was more fun than my primary school. That's for sure because I was older and more outspoken than before. I attended secondary school also in Rumuokwurusi Obiakpor local government area Port Harcourt city Rivers state Nigeria in a school called Vivid model school.

The passion I had for my secondary school grew when I saw them have a rally with the crowned miss of the school in a horse and felt so happy and really wanted to attend the school. My mum finally enrolled me in the school and I started my secondary school.

At first it wasn't much fun as I was the youngest in the class but I ended up making lovely friends who are even my course mates in school now.

I'm now a 200 level student of Sociology in the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State Nigeria. It's quite sad that I've been in the University for over 3 years now but because of the ongoing strike in Nigeria, I'm still at home waiting for the strike to be called off. I plan on getting a job as soon I graduate or if possible open a business of my own.

I don't really have a favorite artist because music all depends on how you feel at that moment. But I love listening to Celine Dion and maybe Bruno Mars. I love watching korean movies and cartoons. My favorite cartoon is a series called Family guy and my favorite Korean movie is Mr.Queen.

My mentor and role model is my pastor, "David Ibiyeomie" because he is a man of God and a man of great virtue. He's one of the persons I look up to, believe in and want to be like . One of my favorites quotes from him is that, "Prosperity is not just having money; it is having enough of God’s provision to complete His will for your goodness.”

I'm highly good at making others smile and being happy, my hobbies are reading, going out, cooking, travelling and sports. I'm a Manchester united fan and I love watching football . My favorite colours are blue, red, black and silver . My favorite food is porridge yam and then jollof rice and fish with moi moi.

Though I had fun I secondary school, most of the funs I had in my life has been in the university. Not to say though , but I'm one of the top ten in the department. Life is not quite easy in the university especially for someone like me who doesn't go out when I was home. But moving on, in less than a month , I got some cool friends and my roommates made it easier for me as I lived in the hostel. I had more of male than female friends in my 100 level but I guess it was more fun than I thought.

Part of this was became, I became the assistant director of sports and I started playing football with the girls section in my 100 level. It was quite hard at the beginning because it's quite hard to control adults especially when they know they're older than you are. With the help of the boys, we exercised more often went for various competitions, we lost some and won some but the most victorious was when we won the cup for the departmental female football tonarment

One of the most fun moment I had in the university was when we had a community service course. At first, I thought I was gonna die out of stress but in the long run, it was so fun especially when I and my friends where added in the same group. All I did was, clear some grass, take them away and plant in new flowers.

Traveling is one of my hobbies that makes me happy, not just travelling though, but traveling to places where I can have so much fun. There are few places I've traveled to that has given me so much fun memories like the festival at my mum's village called the ikeji festival. The festival comprises of the five different villages coming together to celebrate and this happens on April of every year. In the festival, there are various kinds of masquerade and games to play.

My favourite game to play is called the trow and win. In this game there is no specific number of players. It is every man for himself. In the game, you're given three big round plastic stuff that looks like a doughnut called pins with the sum of 100 naira for the three, and then, you have to throw the round stuff where they are already set and organized bottles of wines and if any of your pins should directly roll over any wine, then the wine is yours.

Another game I like is the game of climbing. In this game, there are 5 numbers of specific players but only 3 can make it to the finish line you just have to get to the end of the line and at the end of the line you get a free box of candy or, Big box of ice cream or a traditional attire. This game is not for people who are scared of heights though. You have to be strong in heart and be ready. In this game, there are obstacles which come very easy at first but gets harder as you go on.

Then the third game I love playing is called jump if you can. In this game, it's more of like a combat game where you have to dodge things that come for you. Staring with the soft fluffy punch bag that comes your way to the soft sticks that looks like rods that you have to jump so high to dodge or you get hit by the game and then you get deleted just like a combat game.

In the festival, there are three types of masquerades and each of these types are more than a hundred.

The first type of masquerades are called the dikes. The dikes just move around making some beautiful dance steps and noises which are seen to be very unique and people give them money willingly.

The second sets are very big and find it kind of difficult to dance like the first once so, they do more of shaking their bodies but the followers do more of the dancing for him.

And the third one holds a whip to ask for money and if you don't give them, they end up flogging you.

One of the best times I had was also when I went to the spa with my friend who is now in Ghana. First my mum declined as usual but we pressured her and at last she agreed.

IMG-20220921-WA0017.jpgpermission taken to use pictures with my friend

first of all we went to the amusement park where we had so much fun like the time where we rode and ox, not really a real ox though but it was more of like something that had to push you around and then if you fall, you lose but if you keep on holding it to the point where you can hang on, you win.

Also rode on a boat that we paddled with our legs like a bicycle and the more you paddled, the faster it went. We rode for some minutes and then went to have some pop corns and then we went to have some ice cream and after that, we went to spar and that was my first time of using an escalator. It was quite embarrassing following the fact that it was my first time and I was all shaky.

Few days ago I went to Aba a city in Abia state Nigeria and had one of the greatest fun ever....shopping, I had so much fun especially when it was time for me to eat one of their very delicious delicacy called "nkwobi" which comprises of ugba, utazi, akanwu (potash), oso(Igbo pepper) and isi ewu(goat head) which I enjoyed with a very cold bottle of drink.

like to think that I'm a very flexible and resourceful person. Even if things can change at the last minute, I try my best to accommodate these changes and not come up short. At my last job, the schedule was constantly changing, so I needed to be highly adaptable and despite the chaotic atmosphere, I always finished tasks on time.

I'm very ambitious and goal oriented. I expect challenges coz they are bound to happen and I always set goals for myself, so I have something to keep me going. I'm not very comfortable with settling for less , and I'm always looking for strategies and opportunities to do better and achieve to be a wonder. And this is why I've decided to venture into cryptocurrency.

Cryptocurrency was introduced to me by @blacktarri who is a friend of mine. My Passion for crypto began when it was introduced to me but at first I didn't have much interest in it untill I saw how important and advantageous it has been to people around me and how it has been helpful over time and it has also being easier for people to make transactions, invest, and make a living out of it.

My aim of deciding to join the crypto world is to be able to invest, trade, mine and make a profits from it and have more fun, be comfortable and happy

Thanks for having me here lovable hivers.

Also, as Hive can sometimes be quite confusing, the newly launched Newbies Guide should be helpful to you, as it is a growing repository of useful and easy to understand posts about how the Hive ecosystem works. For instance, there's a post in the collection called 3 things Newbies should do in their first week on Hive that you might find helpful.

Please be aware that Hive is a bit different from other social media platforms since you are monetizing your blog, so it is important not to include content that you don't own without sources (and it shouldn't exceed 50% of the post). For more information, check this post - Why and How People Abuse and Plagiarise by hivewatchers.

I'm sure @blacktarri will continue to help you as you begin your Hive journey, but if you have any questions, feel free to hop into the OCD Discord server and we'll do our best to answer them, and again welcome to Hive!
