in #hive-1745782 years ago

This is a report for OCD curation for May 2022. It’s a first of its kind. Going forward this report will be posted on a monthly basis from some of the OCD official accounts.
Here we will be presenting data on curation for authors and communities that are supported by OCD.

The following topics will be covered:

  • number of votes per day
  • unique authors voted daily and monthly
  • daily HIVE rewarded
  • unique communities voted daily and monthly
  • top communities
  • number of comments voted daily

The period that will be covered here is starting from Jan to May 2022, with a focus on May 2022.

Number of votes per day

Here is the chart for the number of votes per day for 2022.

image001.png

As we can see the number of votes per day has been quite constant with a small drop in the period. On average the number of votes per day for May 2022 was around 165, while for the whole month it is 5k.

Unique authors voted daily and monthly

Here is the chart for the number of unique authors voted daily.

image003.png

There is a similar trend here as the overall count for votes.
In May the average authors voted on daily is around 150. For the whole month there is a total of 1820 authors voted.

Authors voted per month

Here is the chart for the number of authors voted on a monthly basis.

image005.png

We can notice a small drop in the number of monthly authors voted. From 2.3k in Jan 2022 to 1800 in May 2022.

Daily HIVE rewarded

Here is the chart for the amount of HIVE rewarded daily.

image007.png

Note that this is HIVE equivalent numbers, since half of the authors rewards are paid in HBD.

Quite a steady numbers here. On average around 2.4k HP was distributed on daily basis from the OCD rewards.

Unique communities voted daily and monthly

Here is the chart for the number of communities voted per day.

image009.png

A steady daily numbers here as well. On average around 50 communities voted on a daily basis.

On a monthly basis the chart looks like this:

image011.png

Awesome! Thanks a lot for doing these, will be a great way to check our improvement over time to cover as many great authors, overall users, and communities!

It is also amazing to see that even though the price dropped by a lot, the amount of unique authors posting has not dropped much, on top of that many new ones are joining and receiving frequent votes from our curation efforts and those of the communities. Will be interesting to see how this trend will grow!

Tnx!
Yea thats true ... activity has not slowed down as much as the price! Great work from you guys .... almost 2k authors and 160 communities supported per month is quite an achivment!

Hopefully only going up from here on out!

Something for readers to keep in mind is that we do have quite a lot of restrictions, not just certain niches/genres that we won't curate, but also to not reward the same authors too much and often or if they already are well rewarded from other curators. On top of that when the price of Hive is too high we try to tone it down a bit so the rewards are a bit more realistic and similar when price is lower we try to vote them a bit higher.

Some of the great things that come off of manual curation and having many unique eyes and tools handy to help is that you can be quite flexible and fair towards distribution.

This was the most amazing feature I learned from this post. Despite of the drop in price, community members have not run away.

I would be interested in seeing a distinction between new members (let's say joining Hive less than 3 months ago) and older ones, and how this metric evolves over time (and how it is correlated with Hive price). This should provide some insights on user retention.

Cheers!

Yeah would be interesting to see.

While we do have some activities in that sector, mainly @lovesniper where curators curate good first posts they find, recommend them communities they may be interested in based on their posts then give them a follow to check their future activities (people can check @lovesniper/feed to follow it themselves), and then we also have our own onboarding program which people can follow on the @ocdb compilation posts that have a very high retention rate. It would still be interesting to see overall numbers. I am seeing quite nice retention and curation in general and referral links working somewhat properly through beneficiaries being sent to onboarders in different ways (either through peakd sign ups or through hiveonboard directly - not our onboarding program).

There are only a few questionable accounts doing some questionable curation, nothing too big or too much stake and when it gets out of hand it is nothing that downvotes can't fix or adjust.

This is great. It's nice to be able to keep track. And it has really interesting information regarding the amount of Hive rewarded on the votes. And the communities that receive the most votes. Thank you very much!

Great team and great community I love your activities on the Blockchain and how you help and support original contents. Thank you so much and keep up the good work. ❤️

Keep up the good work!

That's fantastic! Surprising how the dip didn't affect the number of unique users as much as some would expect. Good stuff! We'll be keeping an eye on those reports, very insightful.

Awesome work!

The @music-community has a lot of quality and original creators, but didn't make the top 14 list.

Might have to explore Hive Open Mic a bit more :)

Thanks for the insights

Thanks for sharing this data.!

I truly love this my friend. I may be just an entrant, but looking at the charts presented have motivated me to do more around here.

Excellent job! Congratulations,

Wonderful update. Keep up the work!

I have a suggestion and question. I believe it would be great if the curated accounts are displayed in the charts. Also, is there a way to get guaranteed curation from the team?

I would be very much grateful to receive a response.

This is indeed new of its kind and glad to see the great stats. Thanks for putting them together :)

OCD should curate the meme communities as well :P

Would be a bit hard to determine originality on them, unless they are about Hive stuff I guess. :p

I knew there must be a good reason :) but there are some Hive related meme floating around, at least ocassionally.
I my case at least, besides making original memes and sometimes Hive related ones, I also try to use new templates every time so things don't get stale. Not sure anybody notices but it's my way of taking pride in my shitposting work :)

Maybe we can discuss and come up with something similar to the small votes we give to comments. There are some meme compilation posts we curate now and then specific to certain communities in our incubation but they are very few.

I wouldn't mind giving it a try, will have to check your community activity a bit more first and maybe a trial run to see how it evolves.

I mainly post in the memehive community and I think @holovision takes care of it :) As far as I know there are no other active meme communities

Would have been nice to see the list of authors curated as well.

Since we also reward a lot of curation reports and those of different communities it would've become mostly that in the top list, would've been a lot to ask to exclude them and any future ones we may incubate to only show authors.

We do have bots in our discord that warn us when certain authors are being nominated for curation too often to keep it balanced.

Awesome analysis. !PIZZA !PGM !hivebits !LUV
