Hi everyone,
My name is Edidiong Paul Friday but I'm popularly called Eddygraphix, it's a name I coined from my biological name and from my profession.
HOW I GOT TO KNOW ABOUT THIS CRYPTO PLATFORM
A friend name @shuga06 put more lite about the platform, telling me how things are done here, and I promise to abide by the rules and regulations on this platform, and share more knowledge of mine too.
I'm from West Africa, Nigeria. A recent graduate of Political Science from Akwa Ibom State University.
But I took a career in Graphics Design right from when I was a teenager.
HOW DID I GET INTO THIS PROFESSION?
Well, growing up in Africa, we were not privileged to have computers in our homes and if we do have it in our schools, it doesn't get to everyone only a few use it with very limited time allocated to each kid, but then I discovered that whenever I go to cyber cafes to do a thing or two for my mum, I fell in love with the way the workers use the computer.
I mean, from the sound of the keyboard to the sound of the printer and even the entire environment used to make me feel a certain.
I knew I loved computers but I didn't know how on earth I'll end up in that space. Luckily, after I was done with high school ( it's called secondary school in Nigeria), my mum enrolled me in a computer school to study computer operation for just 6 months, I utilized the opportunity and made the most out of it, graduating as one of the best students.
Fast forward to a few months, my mum got me a laptop and boom, that was the beginning of my graphics career, I could remember vividly I didn't actually know exactly what to do with my laptop aside from practicing, playing games and watching videos.
So I went on to ask my mentor Iyke Donald the jobs I could do with my laptop to earn money and he mentioned a couple of things but I picked interest in Graphics Design and that was it for me.
I paid for the training and that was how I ventured into it fully.
Now this is what happened when I was done learning graphic design, back then in Nigeria, the culture was once you're done with secondary school (high school), you find a job while waiting to be admitted into the tertiary institution.
So, as for me, my mum had a primary school and I was a teacher there. I actually resigned to go learn graphics design, when I was done I had to go back to my teaching job because obviously my mum wanted me back and she was in need of staff.
So throughout that year, I hardly got jobs or even the luxury to practice graphics design. I felt I was not good enough as a designer, though I had the opportunity of designing a few of my church posters (that actually served as a training job for me).
My confidence and engagement in Graphics Design grew when I was admitted into the university, there I knew I would have enough time to practice my skills.
That was actually where I carved the name "Eddygraphix", because I needed something to identify as a designer. I started out with doing free gigs for friends and thereafter, started charging as low as 0.5 Cents for a design.
This was in my first year in the university, in 2nd and 3rd year, I became very popular, designing for all the major guys and events and school and became the go to guy for every design.
That was how my confidence and popularity grew around campus and then my friends in school started linking me up with brands and individuals outside the school environment who needed my services.
As at today, I've worked with over 500 brands and individuals delivering excellent jobs to them at affordable prices and I look forward to opening a bigger agency that will incorporate more people and provide jobs in my country.
I've also been privileged to mentor and teach a few youths in my environment what graphic design is all about.
Over the years, I've grown as a designer, started out as a less confident newbie.
During my stay on hive I will talk more on graphic design and maybe some other write up like stories, talking about crypto, poem and so on. My main aim on this platform is to talk more on my job on graphic design, read more articles and story's, understanding more on crypto currency because I know this platform is also about crypto's and making friends within the country and outside the country.
Ok, that's enough for now, see you next time.
