Hello #hive lovers..
This bridge is located at Ujong Pie Harbor, Laweung, Pidie, Indonesia. This bridge used to be an attraction for local tourists but now this bridge is damaged and broken by strong waves. I didn't tell you about my #trip #travel here but there are an interesting story I want to say about this broken Bridge. What is the meaning behind this broken bridge?
Well, when I first came to this place, my brain was immediately stimulated to discuss two things that are inherent in humans when taking a decision. Yes, that's right. Logic and conscience are two instruments that humans must have to make a decision. It might be a conflict of interest if a decision is predominantly made using one of the two instruments.
So, the fundamental question arises, what is the position of logic and conscience in determining a decision? Is there a way to balance logic and conscience? Before discussing that, let's compare it with the empirical side of current civilization. Humanity's mindset continues to develop and advance rapidly during the current development phase. As a result, humans interpret only according to logic. Evidently, this situation has led a person to believe that reality is only tangible, real, and rational. Among these logical mindsets, there are still possibilities or things that do not turn out as we think, or as we wish.
When we demand that everything be rational, then if rationality prevails, we expect only certainty and success. Or rationality alone will lead to the belief that it cannot be done. Then what emerges is the lack of courage to try, or we know it as pessimism. If the civilization's progress can only be measured by empirical and rational factors. We have definitely rejected the existence of conscience in the form of feelings and emotions and we have played a role in dwarfing the role of conscience.
By nature, humans have a spiritual component, in this case, the heart as an instrument. So this provisional conclusion is that logic has its own limits in understanding something. If there is something that cannot be interpreted with logic, it does not mean that it cannot be justified. The heart can also understand something to make it believable. A strong sense of values or norms can explain the truth of the matter.
For example, people who have put aside their conscience can only give birth to humans who are easily angry, arrogant, and so on. A murder case some time ago, where a mother forgave her child's killer is an example where conscience takes an important role over logic. If logic had prevailed, the mother would have demanded that the murderer's life be taken as well. This would have been appropriate, and the law would have allowed it. But the mother understood that revenge would not bring her son back. The role of the mother's heart has changed the killer's behavior for the better and broken the chain of revenge from his generation to the next generation.
If analogized, the human soul is described as a vast city. Conscience is the king in the city, while reason is the commander in the city. Conscience is in charge of determining how development should proceed so that the city remains normal and develops, while reason is in charge of executing orders and regulating development. So, it might be accurate to say that logic and conscience both have a part to play in the success of a decision. Conscience must first decide and then reason follows the decision.
While the conscience is naturally inclined towards the good things in life, it can sometimes be eroded by the times, the times, and the places. Look at how children fight today, but the next day we see them playing together again. It is different if it is an adult who is fighting. If he uses his family members, colleagues, and other connections, he might involve himself today and in the future. People are susceptible to adopting the negative aspects of social circumstances, eroding their integrity of conscience as children do. Well, man has always had a predisposition.
Thus, reason, arguments, and arguments that come must dare to follow conscience. Education of conscience must be maintained so that it will not erode and make us selfish and arrogant. As the conscience acts badly, the components beneath it will also follow, including logic, which will always prefer to walk alone and ignore the situation around it. If the king is incompetent, then the components of reason, anger, and lust will rebel and try to replace the king. War is evidence of the victory of logic over conscience. We always need a bridge so that we can easily navigate between logic and conscience. That bridge is called education and humanity.
Education in logic and conscience can start early and even if it is late, it does not matter. Instilling the latest knowledge about nature and behavior will stimulate the soul to care more and feel what others feel. This can lead to the use of logic and conscience at the same time. In other words, the more problems you encounter, the less burdensome they are. Instead, they are meant to train the ability to handle these two things.
Introduce the culture and characteristics of the group and some differences that are clearly visible among them. Likewise, conscience will be able to accept the difference without any effort that appears disrespectful, so logic will accept the situation without any effort that appears disrespectful.
