This is quite interesting. I am not used to writing introductions about myself because I almost always say it briefly when I am given the stage to talk. I hope I can say something nice about me. I will try my best to expose myself to you my dearest reader.
My name is Ebrima Jobarteh; also known as Ibrahim. I am 28 years old. I am young! I am so passionate about health and the environment. I am a Millennial and a Sagittarius. I guess that says a lot about me. I am a life loving person. I hail from Bansang, a metropolitan town in the Central River Region of The Gambia. Currently, I am staying in a lively town, Tallinding, in the Kanifing Municipality in the Gambia, the smiling coast of Africa. I began schooling at the age of 3 years; yeah I was too noisy at home that my parents found some place for me to sing and shout. My schooling was smooth. I completed university two years ago with Bachelor’s in Medicine and Surgery (MBCHB). Professionally, I am a Medical Doctor who does an eight-hour shift daily, and a single 24-hour on – call weekly at the hospital. It is quite challenging, however I am able to balance this life with work.
I volunteer as a Climate Advocate for the Clean Earth Gambia where we ensure a healthy ecosystem and environment for a better climate. I also volunteer with the Go Support Gambian Children to provide access to quality education to underprivileged children in the rural areas of The Gambia. I am trained as an entrepreneur and design thinker, and in turn, I train other people on establishing their businesses.
I love reading poems, writing books and journals. I find joy in viewing the literature of other people and writing in my free time. I also love doing early morning jogging, late evening training at the gym, catching a cool breath of fresh air at the beach during weekend, and long distance walks as a way of freeing up my mind from the world.
I have SMART goals in my life. In the next year, I will acquire a permanent medical license. That license will enable me to practice independently as a Medical Doctor in the Gambia. In the next five years, I would have acquired Masters in Public Health. I am into business and entrepreneurship too. I wish to establish a multi-dimensional health facility that will provide access to modern day health services to every Gambian and those in the sub-region.
I was introduced to this platform by @nhaji01. She has explained a lot of things about this platform already. However, I have observed that I have a lot to learn and I look forward to meeting new individuals everyday and learning from them. What I write is from the soul and most often linked to recent events in the world.
