It’s been a while since I created my hive account but I’ve been pushing the date forward on my intro for a while and I’m happy again that I did yesterday and now I can write more.
My birthday was May 9th, which was four days ago. A day like any other over which I have no control. "What are your plans for today?" is a question that is frequently asked. I never know when to respond because I've never planned my birthday since I can remember. It arrives, and various last-minute things are done, and before I know it, 24 hours have gone by.
BIRTHDAY MORNING
I woke up on the morning of my birthday like every other day but slightly differently, although I wouldn’t want to admit it but I was happy. A happiness I wanted to refuse because of how much I’ve changed lately but I chose to accept it. I turned on my data and a couple of news sages came in from friends and family. I replied a couple of them and went on to make my bed, brushed my teeth and then I took a shower.
MY FIRST CALLER
I got my first call from my younger sister, Immanuella, about 8 a.m. When I took up the phone, I heard my mother's voice. As a mark of respect, I said good morning to mother in my native dialect Idoma, after which she replied and Wished me A Happy Birthday. As a Christian and a Nigerian mother, a happy birthday wish is incomplete without prayers, and my mother prayed for me as she has always done, and this simple but consistent act made my day.
Thanking her for the prayers and wishes I asked to speak to my little sister who was next to her. She wished me a happy birthday After that, we spoke briefly before the call ended.
GIFTS FROM MY SIBLINGS
My siblings went out of their way to wish me a happy birthday, all six of them. My eldest brother Sylvester, who is always busy, texted and called. Rosemary, my elder sister, called and sent a present . More gifts from both my elder brother and sister (Boniface and Joy). My younger ones David and Immanuella who texted and posted also made my day warm.
Like we are in different locations in Nigeria but they still remembered to call, text, send gifts and this brightened my day.
AN INVITATION
I was sitting at home, having made no plans for my birthday, when my friend Victor called and asked me to come out to a nearby hotel to hang out with a couple other friends. I agreed, and as I was getting ready to leave my house, it began to rain. It felt like God was telling me to stay at home. But to my surprise after a few minutes the rain stopped. I met up with Victor and some other friends at the hotel and with no plans whatsoever we ordered food, ate and played pool. After playing pool, we decided to pay and swim at the swimming pool.
WHY SWIMMING WAS A BAD IDEA
Well it was because it rained. The ground was wet and the water cold, but we swarm anyway. It was fun at first teaching my crush who came along how to swim because she didn’t know how to. Until I started getting cold 🥶 and coughing. We left the water and hit the showers to change.
PIZZA!!!
Lol well after we changed, I (or rather we)said our goodbyes and left to get some drinks and pizza from a fast food around my place. After which we came home, ate , drank and slept together🛌😼.
