Hello everyone, hope we are good, thanks for joining me on this one. So let's discuss about corruption.

When we refer to someone as being corrupt, what do we mean? This can be said to be when a person is using the power been given to him/her to do things that are illegal or dishonest in return for money or for an advantage.

Corruption refers to the misuse of public office for self advantage or for some other immoral, illegal purposes. Like political corruption also known as a criminal offence which some corrupt political leaders indulge in bribery, embezzlement, and extortion.

Let's consider the school system, if a teacher gets money from a student and gives him or her undeserved grades in a test or an examination, such a teacher is corrupt. It may even be a male teacher giving undeserved grades to a female student just to lay with her, you find such in most schools today. In most Universities, most cases of examination leakages at all levels are result of corrupt lecturers.

In terms of employment in the civil service, a firm or organization, in some cases when a person is offered employment, not because the person is qualified but that person might have paid some money to the employer.
As a result of corruption, jobs are given to incompetent, inefficient and unqualified people. What then happens? You see the organization not able to achieve their goals.

Corruption is also noticable in the award of contracts. When a contract is been awarded to unqualified and incompetent person because money has changed hands (bribe), such contracts are haphazardly and shoddily executed. The so- called completed jobs can't stand the test of time.

Let's consider the construction of roads. When a road contract is been awarded through corruption will go into state of disrepair six months or one year after completion. Which will make people experience hardship again.

How about policemen who obtain money from motorists at check points thereby not carrying out their duties, even when the drivers flout the traffic regulations, driving recklessly thereby endangering people's lives, it all ends in the drivers tipping them.

The judiciary is not left out of corruption. Judges and judicial officers obtain money from accused persons who are guilty of offences so as to give judgements in their favour. That also is corruption. What happens, instaed of justice there is injustice.

There are many sectors in a society where corruption exist. But with these examples we can tell that in a country where there is high level of corruption there exist disorder, chaos, injustice, gross abuse of office and power, incompetence little or no development.

What is your say on corruption??
